Laurel Burch’s Art Themes – Writings and Thoughts

Laurel Burch By Stampendous Banner

The Laurel Burch Studios Blog has recently discovered and begun to share some of Laurel Burch’s writings about her various artworks.

They recently shared Ocean Songs about the very underwater images we brought to you in our April Catalog.

Laurel was as eloquent a writer as she was an artist. We really think you’ll enjoy following along with their blog series featuring her writing about her art.

The Birthday Fairy Pops By…

Today BlogStar Rhea Weigand has a terrific birthday card featuring stamps from our April Catalog. This lush, layered beauty looks difficult, but it’s really a snap with her easy directions! Remember that we’re still offering FREE SHIPPING on our website on U.S., retail orders of $50 or more! It’s a great time to stock up on all the new Fran•táge Embossing Enamels and Encrusted Jewel Technique Kits!

————————————

Hello, this is Rhea. Today I am sharing vintage birthday card using CRW099 Birthday Fairy and CRQ170 Cling Zinnia from the latest Stampendous release.  It’s really easy and would be great to do in your next craft group.

Stamp Birthday Fairy on Kraft paper with VersaMark, then emboss with Clear Bark. You will need 2 Zinnias.

Add blue ink to the zinnias as shown.  I like to use Distress Inks because they have a little less pigment.  Next, emboss the edge of background paper with Aged Marine Embossing Powder.  “Smush” the corner of the VersaMark pad here and there on the paper.  With your fingers lightly sprinkle the embossing powder and heat from the under side until melted.

I love to layer!  I used medium blue and tan paper with the prints and two tones of tan for the card.

Finally, it’s time to add all the elements.  You can heat set them in embossing powder or use a clear glue and sprinkle them on.  But before you do that don’t forget to add your ribbon.  I used May Arts sheer in brown.
Here is a close up of where I added elements.  I chose to use my clear adhesive.
Thank you for spending time with us today!  I’ll see you next week,   Rhea
