If you’ve been waiting for the dynamic duo of Tracy Weinzapfel and Andy Skinner to return to America in their stunning Ministry of Mixology Mixed Media Retreat Series, wait no longer! This is your chance to see this amazing team of mixed media artists in action. This event will sell out, so be sure to get your tickets early.
Plus, we’ll offer you a few insider tips from folks who live practically next door to this fantastic venue! Here’s our first tip: Get up REALLY early on your first morning there, tiptoe across the street from the hotel to the new Porto’s Cuban Bakery! If you’ve ever had anything better in your life than their potato balls (deep fried mashed potatoes stuffed with meat), we’d be surprised. But go early! They can have up to a 3 hour line for their amazing offerings.
We hope you take advantage of this great opportunity! Tracy and Andy are remarkable teachers who make mixed media fun and fast!
Isn’t it Neat?
Wouldn’t you say our collection’s complete?
We’ve been swimming with mermaids this week in our Part of Your World 1 series. Be sure to join us next week for Part of Your World 2: Under the Sea!
Today we’re sharing one of our most popular stamps of all time! Our Mermaid stamp has been with us since January 2011, and she’s still one of our best sellers.
She’s been featured in some of the biggest craft stores, like Michaels and JoAnn Fabrics, and she’s been offered by most of our independent retailers as well. She’s been the focus of tons of wonderful projects like the ones below: (click on them to make them larger)
But the pièce de résistance, we’re sure you’ll agree, is this amazing project by Design Team Alumni Suzanne Czosek! This project is our all-time most pinned project on Pinterest! It’s been shared and pinned to boards almost 8,000 times! Isn’t it luscious, with all that Halo Glitter, and Color Fragments, and so much more goodness! It’s really one of our favorites ever!
We’re really excited this week at Stampendous to showcase our newest edition to our Mermaid family. This fantastic Cling Rubber Stamp Set by artist Laurel Burch adds a whimsical mermaid and her fishy friends to our other two, already popular, mermaid stamps. Colored by our own Fran Seiford in the delightful, brilliant color scheme favored by Laurel, this mermaid is as at home on a card as she is in the sea. We’ll be sharing lots of other ideas for her this week. Why not get your own and color along! We’d love to sea your projects! (Sea what we did there?) You can find this great set at your favorite stamp retailer or on our website, where your orders are fulfilled by independent, local stamp stores. You can share projects on our Facebook Group, our Flickr Group, or email them to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll share them for you! You can also check out our Laurel Burch by Stampendous Pinterest Board for loads of inspiration! (If you create something and post it online, be sure to let us know so we can pin it here!)

We’re wrapping up our week of introducing you to our new Laurel Burch line of rubber stamps. If you want to try and achieve that Laurel Burch look, we thought we’d offer a few tips we’ve learned working with her images. Stay tuned for more tips in future posts.
– Cats, Dogs, etc. have more human shaped eyes rather than rounded animal shapes
– Women, cats, etc. usually have multiple “eye shadow” colors above and/or below
– Colors are vivid and vibrant not muted.
– Paints are blended from one color to another
– Blend from yellow to oranges and then reds not yellow next to red
– Colors often change from one hue to another in the same vivid value spectrum.
– Warm color blends are next to complementary cool color blends.
Ex: Yellow orange flowers might then have a border color of aqua blues.
– Accent with metallic gold paints or pens.
– Embellish with dots, swirls or geometric patterns.
– Offset bright color images with deep blue or black, not just white backgrounds.
– Dark mottled or starry skies are a favorite.
– Asymetrical, overlapping, close spacing no big open spaces.
– Layers of hand made papers with torn or deckle edges.
– Papers to match the Copic Marker color chart.
– Metallic accents of gold paper or embossed gold patterns and encrusted edges
Let’s see what the Stampendous Designers are creating:
We’re celebrating our newest stamp license, Laurel Burch, all week this week. Be sure to check out Monday’s post HERE, if you missed it. We’re really excited to share our projects with you, and we can’t wait to see what you make using these fun, exciting stamp images.
Artist Laurel Burch began her creative journey at a very young age. First known for her signature jewelry designs, she eventually developed her own unique style of folk art painting. She celebrated our connection to the Earth and all living things with bright, vibrant colors and images of cats, dogs, jungle creatures, international women and so much more. We’ve captured her look in a collection of two large Cling Rubber stamp sets with coordinating Die Sets, two Perfectly Clear Stamps Sets, and 14 individual images available in both Cling Rubber and Wood Mounted styles. You can explore the whole collection, along with all our sample projects on our website HERE.
Our Design Team have also been exploring these great images and have posted some wonderful samples on their blogs. Here’s who is playing today –
