The best embellishments for any designer/artist are the items that are the perfect “finishing touch”. They ADD to the design without confusing the eye. Which is why we at Stampendous LOVE May Arts ribbons and trims! A card or project can be “pretty” and “nice”, but add a bit of May Arts ribbon…and suddenly you have “WOW”! Take a look at a couple examples below, envisioning what they’d be like without that added touch. Granted…we believe that everything is amazing when begun with a base of Stampendous and Dreamweaver products (what’d you expect?), but even we like a bit of bling and frill here and there!

Stenciling with Stampendous and May Arts Ribbons

STM_MayArtsBanner2

May Arts has a ribbon lady, owner and original ribbonista Bethney, who sources only the best in trendy, high quality ribbon and in every color and size possible. It would be a shock if we didn’t have just the right ribbon to add to our project, our creativity finds new ways to use ribbon on our projects and so we sometimes stamp and stencil on them!

At the beginning of the year we acquired the awesome Dreamweaver Stencils Company from our long time friends, Lynell and Wayne Harlow, and we are still so excited about the possibilities with these quality metal stencils and so many different ways to use them.

1-6292015 May Arts1

It’s feasible to stencil embossing paste onto ribbon for a special sentiment banner (left and bottom right. credit: Pam Hornschu and Lynell Harlow respectively) or even sponge ink through a stencil to create coordinating ribbon (top right, credit: Pam Hornschu). We get excited thinking about different coloring and stenciling mediums to use stencils on our ribbons with diff coloring mediums that would work with this basic method. Today is our regular Dreamweaver Stencils feature day posting later on our blog, so it’s possible our designers projects will include  some stencil work that are sure to inspire.

Be sure to comment and tell us where you’re from, because our Australian Distributor The Stencil Specialists are sponsoring a prize for one friend “down under” to win a Stampendous Stamp, a Dreamweaver Stencil and a surprise goodie from their terrific stock of Stampendous merchandise!

There are Stampendous prize packages up for grabs, too. THREE US commenters  will receive a prize of their choice in any one roll of ribbon from May Arts and a $20 reward card. Tell us what state you live in when you comment. Stampendous Official Rules.

It’s May Arts Time Again!!

Always one of our most popular blog collaborations is when we play with our friends at May Arts Ribbon! Can there be anyone who doesn’t love those luscious rolls of ribbony goodness? Nope! We didn’t think so! Here comes a week of ribbon fun!

The Ribbon Lady at May Arts made us a beautiful logo for our hop. And thanks to modern technology, I have no way to get to it today, but I know you’ll see it when you visit them, and tomorrow we’ll have it up and running. Of course, in this hop there will be Prizes!! We’ll be offering three prize packages of a brand new, Jumbo Cling Stampendous Flower Stamp Set, A Jumbo Perfectly Clear Handle, AND YOUR CHOICE of one spool of any May Arts Ribbon!! Wow!

How to win…  Comment on our blog here, the May Arts Blog, and the blogs of each designer playing each day. Every comment is a chance to win! Be sure that you’re also a fan of our Facebook Page and the May Arts Facebook Page as well!  Here’s who is playing today:

May Arts Ribbon – Blog Collaboration Week

Welcome to another terrific blog collaboration with our good friends at May Arts Ribbon. We just love playing with their terrific products, and we know they love playing with ours. They really make such beautiful creations!! And so does our Design Team! When that Ribbon Lady sends out the spools of goodness…we just squeal with delight.

We’ve got lots of inspiration for you each day, here on our blog, on our DT blogs, and over at May Arts plus their DT blogs…whew! You’re going to have more inspiration than you can shake your scissors at!

Plus you know there will be prizes! Some terrific packages of ribbon and stamps for folks who leave creative comments (that show us you really looked at a post, hee hee… so no just saying “nice card” on the blog with the scrapbook page. We’ll know you didn’t look!). We’ll draw random bloggers to draw randomly from comments each day!  Please be sure that you’ve “liked” May Arts and Stampendous on Facebook (and follow us on Twitter, and Pinterest, etc!). Subscribing to our blogs would be super appreciated as well!

We’d love to start off this show with a fantastic card from our January catalog. Our in-house Sample Artist, Debi Hammons, simplified this card from a beautiful design by our DT member Suzanne Czosek. The crushed silk ribbon in gorgeous, rich purple is just the perfect complement for our Cling Botanical Asperula and Scrolled Medallion stamps! Just love this card.
