RubberStampMadness Magazine

RSM_Masthead

Happy 36th Anniversary to one of our industry’s most amazing publications! RubberStampMadness Magazine and I started stamping together 36 years ago, and they’ve always been one of my favorite magazines in the industry.

They’re not cutesy, they’re not trendy (although they are always aware of the trend), but they are always “artsy” – with a little fartsy mixed in!! Their contributing artists have humor and HUGE stamp collections which they mask and layer to create works of art more often than “greeting cards”.  They’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but they’ve sure been mine. I still have every single issue and have subscribed almost continuously for their entire time in print. I’ve met pen pals in their classified ads with whom I’ve exchanged cards for years, I’ve used their store location guides on every road trip vacation we’ve taken, and I’ve even been published in their pages.

Now you have an opportunity to get a free issue! In honor of their anniversary they are going to send the first 36 people who email them and mention our blog and my name a free issue. So fire up your email, send a note to kendra@rsmadness.com with your home address, and tell her that Laura from the Stampendous Blog sent you! Good Luck! Even if it’s the only RSM issue you ever own, you’ll thumb through it a million times! And you’ll see something new every time you do!

Thanks, RSM for your generous offer!! And here’s to at least 36 more years of inspiring stamp art, new techniques and artsy folks!

Stampendous Sketch Challenge!

For this challenge all you have to do is creatively stamp your image on pattern paper.  Here are two samples to show you so you can see how you can go simple or crazy wild.  Have fun with this one!

Jennifer, from Just 4 Fun Crafts, used the N199 Santa trio Stamp to make this card. And she admits that it’s her most used stamp! Gorgeous! And we love the color palette! It’s nice that she broke away from the traditional red and green Christmas colors and used pink and lime green.

And Jen also made this easy-on-the-eyes card! Made with the Ponderosa Pine Stamp, the Polar Path Cling Rubber Stamp Set, and the Clear Bark brown powder from the Scenic Selections 14 Jar Embossing Powder Kit, this card would be great for anyone!

Last week we had a color challenge. The requirements were to use all the colors of the rainbow in a card. Here are the two winners:

Carol made this beauty of a birthday card. Taking the birthday cake image and repeating it to make a pattern is a fantastic idea! We love it! She made this card using the SSC1051 Changito Baker Perfectly Clear Stamps Set and White Embossing Powder.

And an awesome job to Melissa with this marvelous creation! She used the NEW Peony Border Panel Stamp and embossing powders to make the main image. Simply stunning!

These winners will be contacted and sent a Stampendous prize in the mail. If you have won a contest in the past and have not received your prize, please don’t fret! We want to make sure you get your goodie. Please email submissions@stampendous.com and let up know which challenge you won and didn’t receive a prize for. Thank you!

Saturday Sketch Challenge

This week was, hands down, the hardest Challenge to choose winners from! We have to show you what everyone made because there was just so much great creativity! So we will be posting those cards later this week. But for now we will show you the two cards we did choose…

Angela’s! Congrats, this card has a lot of great detail and I love the accessories she paired with the stamp image. It turned out so great!! Angela used the SSC263 Costume Kids Perfectly Clear Stamps, which will be available on our website later this week.

And congratulations to Melinda! I love how you used the background paw prints stamps as the background and to the U. Melinda used the Fluffles Wuv Perfectly Clear Stamps and the Love Journal Perfectly Clear Stamps.

This week’s challenge is to send us your best Christmas and Winter cards (or scrapbook pages) using Stampendous Christmas and Winter products, since we just released a TON of them online and at your local retailer carrying Stampendous product. The prize will be a Holiday stamp so you can use it to get ahead on this year’s holiday cards! Good luck everyone and check out what the design team made for a bit of holiday inspiration:

Cyndi made this playful card using the new Polar Path Cling Rubber Stamps set and White Ultra Fine Pearl Glitter.

Wendy made this perfect card using the Snowfall Rubber Stamp, Holiday Home Perfectly Clear Stamp Set (SSC1067), the Cling Rubber Cardinal Path Stamp Set, Cotton Ball White Flock from the FF906 Lollipop Flock Kit, white embossing powder from EK08 Carousel Embossing Kit, Copic markers and Creative Impressions ribbon

Check out the cards Jen Dove made! In this one she used Crystal ultra-fine glitter, Snowman Flurry Perfectly Clear Stamps, Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink Pad, Pattern paper, glimmer ribbon and Copic Markers: YG11, G000, B95, BG10, YR02, YG03

In this one she used M232 Cozy Penguin Trio woodmounted stamp, patterned paper, Copic markers, Chainletter Christmas Class A’Peel Stickers, Dot Sparklers Class A’Peel Stickers and Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink Pad

And here’s yet another fun card by Jen. She was on a roll this week! She used the NEW Polar Gifts Cling Rubber Stamp, Creative Impressions Silk Ribbon, a button, patterned paper, Prism Cardstock, Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink Pad and Copic markers: C1, C3, C5, C7, B95, BG10, YG63, 0, G000, RV95, R11

Saturday Sketch Challenge

Cyndi B. from The Scrappy Chick Blog, designed this week’s sketch! It’s simple, but you can embellish it to your heart’s delight! Try using the Sticker Background Technique or Painting With Powder for a fun card with more dimension!

And here’s Cyndi’s example of a card she made following the sketch:

Supplies:

  • Stamps: New stamps from our new catalog!! L246 Bake Memories & V214 BlockArt Cookie Cutie (Stampendous) to find these stamps, go to your local craft supply store selling Stampendous stamps. You can find your local store here.
  • Paper: Eskimo Kisses pp (Basic Grey); White cs (Neenah); green cs (Bazzill)
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
  • Accessories: Copics & ABS1 (Imagination International); Labels 11 Nestabilties (Spellbinders); ribbon (Creative Imaginations); buttons (Basic Grey)

Congratulations to last week’s Christmas/Winter/holiday sketch challenge winners! Carol & Melinda!

Carol made a stylish Christmas card using the Chainletter Christmas Class A’Peel stickers. We absolutely love how she made a cool pattern with them for the card background. It’s so simple, yet it looks super trendy!

Melinda’s card is so cool! We love that she layered the stickers and the stamp! She used our the Swirl Tag rubber stamp and the new AC1021MRS Snowflake Ornaments Class A’Peel stickers, which will be available on our website soon!

Good luck to everyone on this week’s challenge! You could be one of the lucky winners! So get out your stash and make something beautiful with Stampendous products.
