It seems in just a few shakes of the jars from our Beach Embossing Powders Kit, it is already time to wrap up our inspiration week of Beach Basics projects with beautiful artwork by Fran Seiford.

Remember those great little chipboard pieces we posted at the beginning of the week? Fran gives them a mixed media style finish by adding them to canvas for impressive wall decor.

We are Sew Having Fun!

linnie blooms Blog hop banner

The Linnie Blooms line of no sew solution products were created to fit the need for working with different art mediums  on a suitable canvas. This all happened for the owner and founder, Linda Barutha, who in a few short years went from creating a scrapbooking retreat in Central Wisconsin to creating her own line of products from a trend she recognized in her artwork design and wanted to share. We are so happy that she did!

The designers are keeping us inspired and intrigued with each new project and there are many more to come the rest of the week. If you have missed a day of designer projects you can find the links on our MONDAY and TUESDAY posts. We wouldn’t want you to miss out!

Linnie Blooms and Stampendous Hopping Together

linnie blooms Blog hop banner

This projects this week by default will be mixed media style but don’t let that worry you at all. Some people start looking for the exit signs when that style is mentioned but really the definition of mixed media is one simple rule. Create using at least two different art mediums! When you start with stamps and an ink pad then add products from Linnie Blooms it’s already a mixed media project! From there it’s easy to add ribbon, buttons, paper, paint and more or as little as you decide!

We are hopping all this week and we hope you haven’t missed any projects so far! If you are just joining us today we have posted designer projects before today so if you want to jump back and see them go to the link for the post on Monday.

We have so much fun with these collaboration we think you should have a chance to as well, so there are Prizes!! Three lucky winners will each win a set of Linnie Blooms Fabric Mini File Folders just like they provide for our team. An OOPS!

On January 6th we published our Butterflies and Dies, Oh My! post. In it we attributed this beautiful mixed media canvas to our fabulous Fran Seiford. But it turns out (oops!!) it was created by our Artist Consultant Debbie Cole, CDA!   So sorry, Debbie, for the boo boo! We’re so glad you brought it to our attention. And this gives all of you another chance to view it’s Springtime wonder!

Sneak a Peek at Mixed Media Stamps!!

CHA Show Banner

At Stampendous we’ve been having so much fun with the Mixed Media movement. Folks just seem to love combining all their crafting stash into journals or canvases or so many other projects. We just think stamps give you the greatest opportunity to use backgrounds and images in a way that won’t “mess up” your project! We were so thrilled last year to announce our partnership with international mixed media artist Nathalie Kalbach! Her wonderful stamp and stencil designs sold like wildfire, and we’re thrilled to bring you three new designs in her n*studios collection! Please welcome:

Of course Nathalie has already been playing with her new stamps! We’ll be sharing lots of inspiration this weekend on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Flickr, etc… Plus we’ll have a video of Nathalie’s demo at our CHA booth that we’ll upload right to YouTube. But first, here’s a peek at one of her canvases –

In addition, we’re thrilled to add international mixed media artist and instructor Andy Skinner to our list of licensed designs. Andy’s designs for three stamp sets just thrilled us, and our Design Team was so excited to be using them! Like Nathalie’s stamp sets, these will be available on our website beginning January 23. They are already being shipped to your local stamping, scrapbooking and crafting stores, so keep your eyes open for them. Welcome to the Stampendous Family, Andy! And let’s have a look at:

Coloring Stampendous with Faber-Castell

faber castell gelatos

Continuing our terrific partnership with Faber-Castell this week, we’d love to feature some great images colored with their Gelatos product. These products work like watercolors when scribbled on to a palette and applied with a waterbrush. They can also be applied directly to your scrapbook background and then spritzed with water from a spray bottle or brushed with a wet brush to create washes or drips of color. So versatile and so easy to use!

Here scrapbook artist Adrienne Ford uses our new Glance stamp along with our Rattan Weave Background stamp and the terrific Mixed Media Grunge Cling Set designed by Nathalie Kalbach for Stampendous.

From Mixed Media to cute, you can use your Gelatos to color anything. Here in-house Sample Artist Debi Hammons watercolored our Feather Bonnet Baby then added some strokes of colored pencil over the top for texture. Gelatos make it easy to create this type of look.

We didn’t finish Painting!

Our series on using paint with your stamps wasn’t quite finished when the week ended on us! We wanted to share a couple last projects with you, and our Design Team had some more inspiration for you! We hope you’re tempted to break out your acrylic paints and try some of these great projects!

Filly canvas by Debbie Cole
Filly Canvas by Debbie Cole, CDA

Remember our Filly Sketch stamp from a couple weeks ago? Well, here is artist Debbie Cole’s take on it. Isn’t it amazing how different an image can look when you use the stamp as a guide or pattern and begin painting over it with acrylics? WOW! (this is 10 times more gorgeous in real life, too!). Debbie also used some of the terrific stamps from our Stack Art Stamp Sets in the background here to add texture and dimension.

Let’s look at the other Design Team Members who posted some painty inspiration on their blogs last week. Then be sure to hurry back here because our week long collaboration with Faber-Castell is next!

Caution: Wet Paint!

We’re celebrating all the things you can do with rubber stamps and paint this week in honor of  Vegas Paint’s Creative Painting event for Decorative Painters. Our Stampendous Sales Team is there with a booth this week (yes, it’s open to the public) and folks are SNAPPING UP our Creative Palettes and Jumbo Cling Rubber images. These images make decorative painting sooooo much easier than painstakingly tracing an image on to your piece. Just stamp and go! Spend your time painting and not tracing!

A big shout out to the folks at DecoArt as well, for donating to Stampendous all the paint you see on these terrific projects.  They’ve been very generous supporters of our painty efforts!

And, of course, the inimitable Debbie Cole, CDA has just created some fantastic projects we are excited to share with you. Today’s project is a canvas featuring our Cling Jumbo Spider Mum stamp. Like Wow!!

There’s a detailed tutorial for creating this piece on our website HERE.

Our Design Team has been playing in the paint this week! They’ve got some really cool projects to share with you. So get out those acrylics in the 200 colors you HAD to have and start painting with your stamps! Here’s who is sharing today:

Where the Rubber Meets the Roadies…

image001The Maya Roadies that is.  When terrific images, embossing powder, glitter and goodness meet fantastic chipboard surfaces, wonderful canvas alterables, and just every kind of fun goodie, you can’t help but have a great pairing. We’ve had fun all week with the terrific products from Maya Road, and we’ve been so impressed with what their designers have done with ours!

Today we only have one designer playing, but when it’s

Suzanne Czosek,

you KNOW it will be amazing. So hop on over and leave her some love and get ready for tomorrow, because the BIG Blog Hop is ON! And remember to visit the

Maya Road DT Blog

today as well! I saw some amazing Halloween bling on there for today!!

Anchors aweigh! Pushing the boat out onto Stampendoulicious waters…by Asia King

Ahoy Stampendous friends! Asia here with a new project to inspire you and to err…. push the boat out so to speak! 🙂 Today I would like to share a mixed media canvas that features lots of Fran•táge, my beloved napkin art, and a new technique for me – Faux Airbrushing (as featured in the UK’s Craft Stamper magazine March 2013). Let’s cast off and get underway!

Step 1 – supplies:

– blank 8″x8″ canvas

– set of printed napkins with nautical theme

– Decopatch glue, an old brush, fine art sponge (or a regular washing sponge as long as it has fine holes)

– distress inks: Shaded Lilac (not included on the photo), Faded Jeans, Broken China, Pumice Stone

– stencil with various sized circles. I created mine from acetate and die cut Nestabilities circles. You can later use your die cut circles as masks.

You will also need:

– Stampendous Cling Navigateur stamp

– Coffee Archival ink

– Inktense (or water colour) pencils, water brush

– ivory card and a piece of ivory fabric, scissors, paper distresser

Step 2 – covering your canvas:

– peel the top printed ply of your napkin, cut and arrange the pattern on the canvas.

– adhere to the canvas with Decopatch glue, covering all the sides as well. Don’t worry about small creases – let the glue settle for a minute and then smooth the creases gently with your fingers.

– avoid adding any glue on top of the napkins at this stage. You will want to keep the napkin unsealed with the medium.

Now you are ready to add some bubbles!

Step 3 – water bubbles:

– pinch your sponge so you get a nice round tip

– gradually add inks by gentle tapping/dabbing of the sponge through the stencil. Dabbing with the sponge instead of swiping it in a circular motion will create a gradual ‘dotted’ effect, similar to airbrushing (hence the name of the technique)

– to create the ‘bubble look’ keep the centre of the circle uninked. Then depending on your chosen light direction add more ink to opposite sides to create shading

– add layers of overlapping circles. Use your (previously) die cut circles as masks to add more shading. Depending on the location of the shade you can either bring the bubble forward or set it behind another

– work the inks from lightest to the darkest shade

Step 5 – Bling it on!

– swipe Boss Gloss (or an embossing ink pad) along the edges of the canvas> Leave some areas uninked

– cover with Aged Marine Embossing Enamel, tap off the excess, heat set then allow to cool

– swipe embossing ink over the remaining areas overlapping previously embossed parts

– sprinkle with Shabby Blue Embossing Enamel and heat set

– using the technique shown by my fellow BlogStar Tobi in this post randomly add layers of  Champagne, Steel Blue, Royal Blue Crushed Glass Glitter and Powder Blue Colour Fragments

– stamp bunting images onto fabric with a permanent ink. I used a free stamp from July 2012 issue of the Craft Stamper magazine. Alternatively draw several bunting flags with a Sharpie pen and cut out. Adhere to the canvas with hot glue gun and embellish with a string or ribbon.

Step 5: Main panel

– stamp Cling Navigateur onto ivory card with Coffee Archival

– colour the image with Inktense pencils or alcohol markers

– add water bubbles following the same steps as above

– distress the edges of the panel with paper distresser

– using the encrusted jewel technique add Shabby White highlights to the image

Step 6:

– stamp Cling Better Travel sentiment stamp with embossing ink onto acetate

– heat emboss with Black Detail embossing powder

– trim the acetate close to the sentiment

Step 7:

– glue burlap, cheese cloth, buttons and trinkets to the canvas

– crumple the stamped panel slightly and layer over the fabrics

– once in place, seal the image with a layer of Decopatch glue (it will dry clear)

Step 8:

– embellish further with Glossy Accents bubbles

– add highlights to your design with buttons and glass pebbles – can you see my cute ‘ship in a bottle’ below?
