My Dream Day layout – by Asia King

Hello Stampendous fans! Time for another inspiration from your favourite Foreign Correspondent Asia King :). Today is quite special because not only I’m sharing a scrapbook page but it’s a layout of my Dream Day – my Wedding Day that is :).

Let’s start the creative process, shall we?

For the first stage you will need: kraft and patterned papers, mini mister, sanding file, Martha Stewart decorative punch, Vintage Photo distress ink, blending tool.

First, we are going to distress the edges using a technique I first saw in the UK’s Scrap365 magazine.

1. Your kraft card will be your base – you can distress it or leave it unchanged, as I did here.

2. Punch a decorative border all around the patterned page that will be your first background layer. Keep changing the angle of the punch to get an uneven pattern – this will add to a ‘tattered’, vintage look.

3. For the other papers spray some water with a mini mister around all the edges and leave it for a minute or so. This will soften the papers ready for the next step.

4. Working your way all along the edges pinch, crunch and wrinkle the papers. Then leave the papers to dry.

5. When dry, smooth the creases slightly and distress with the sanding file. Distress further with the distress ink. Once you’re happy with the look, adhere the layers together except the top patterned paper (we will come back to it in step 11).

For this step you will need: Cling Ruffled Corset stamp (UK peeps click here), stamping handle, Coffee Archival ink, White Opal Liquid Pearls, Viva Decor Transparent Croco, spatula, Inktense pencils (or alcohol markers), water brush, decorative card from leftover packaging, 3d foam pads and ivory card. Oh – and you also need a photo to scrap!

6. Stamp the Ruffled Corset with Coffee ink onto the cream card twice. The ink will react with the Croco medium and fade slightly adding to a vintage distressed look. If you want a sharper image use StazOn or Memento  ink instead.

7. Colour the corsets with your pencils/pens. Cover with Croco medium and leave to dry.

8. When dry, cut the stamped images into 3/4 width, one from the left and the other one from the right. Cut three matts from the decorative packaging card. Mount the corsets and the photo onto them with 3d foam pads.

9. Embellish the panels with Liquid Pearls as shown.

For this step you will need: Shabby White Embossing Enamel (UK crafters click here), Beacon’s 3 in 1 Advanced Craft Glue, Lettuce Colour Wash, Gold Cosmic Shimmer Mist, selection of lace, ribbons and fabric flowers, burlap, eyelets and eyelet setting tool.

10. Randomly spray the colour wash and the shimmer mist over the lace, ribbons and flowers.

11. Sprinkle the Shabby White enamel in the bottom right corner of the remaining patterned paper. Heat from underneath with a heat gun and watch the shabby magic happen. Repeat in the opposite corner.

12. Punch 8 holes in the enamelled areas and embellish with eyelets. Thread ribbons through the eyelets to mirror the lace up corsets. Finish the lace ups with bows and previously died flowers.

13. Adhere the last layer to the rest of the background papers.

14. Arrange the burlap, lace and images over the page and when you’re happy with the layout, fix them in place with the 3 in 1 glue.

Now onto my favourite part. You will need Champagne and Fresh Green glitters from the Glass Glitter kit, 3 in 1 glue, Shabby White moulded flowers, selection of additional pearl brads, sparklies and flowers.

15. Add pearls/brads and jewels as accents around the main photo panel.

16. Trace around the main photo with a generous layer of 3 in 1 glue, add some glue partially over the brads too.

17. Sprinkle the glass glitters over the glue.

18. Arrange a flower cluster below the photo from the fabric and moulded enamel flowers (you can watch my moulded flowers tutorial here).

For the final part you will need: Shabby White EE, embossing ink, die cut alphas, Lettuce Colour Wash, additional alpha stickers and die cuts.

19. Spray the die cut alphas with the colour wash and allow to dry.

20. Swipe the embossing ink over the letters leaving some areas dry. Sprinkle the Shabby White powder over the letter and heat with a heat tool.

21. Arrange all alphas and die cuts over the page and adhere with the 3 in 1 glue.

I hope you enjoyed sharing my Dream Day with me! What would be/has been your dream day? Let me know in the comment below :).

Big hugs

Life Is Art – Tobi’s Butterfly Canvas

We have an amazing piece of “art journal” style art for you today! BlogStar Tobi Crawford joins us with a gorgeous canvas and a super tip on using Glass Glitter on your Mixed Media projects!
Canvas1

Hello! It’s Tobi Crawford here with a unique project using some great Stampendous! products. Namely:

Very Soon I will do a tutorial on how I do my mixed media canvases, but for now I want to show you a trick with the Stampendous Crushed Glass Glitter. This is the last step because the glitter needs to sit ON TOP OF the paint. You will need matte/gel medium (I used the thicker variety) that dries clear and a spatula.

canvas2

1. Mix the medium and glass glitter with a spatula. I eye-balled it knowing that I wanted a fairly thick concentration of glitter on my project.

canvas3

2. Smear/spread the mixture onto the canvas around the edges. If you’re using thicker medium you can allow the spread to be more dimensional. When it dries it will keep its shape.

canvas4

3. Once the medium dries you will be left with the glass glitter. It’s there for good!

Canvas1

I hope you enjoyed my canvas and please let me know in the comments if you have any questions!

Rhea Weigand Shares Some Bling

Hi Stampers, We have a post for you today from BlogStar Rhea Weigand. It’s one she sent us a couple weeks ago.
In the middle of last week Rhea suffered 3 strokes, and while she got hospital care immediately, she’s still hospitalized as of the scheduling of this post. We’d sure appreciate your prayers for Rhea and her family as she recovers from this devastating health obstacle. We’re just hoping to have Rhea’s sunny self back stamping with us soon!!  If you have a cheery get well card sitting around, feel free to send it to us at Stampendous and we’ll forward it to her. You can address them to Stampendous Graphics, 1122 N Kraemer Pl, Anaheim, CA  92806.
What girl doesn’t like a little bling?
Rhea here, playing with another “NEW RELEASE” from Stampendous!  And yes, I love my bling!!  Gold Halo Mix Glitter brought exactly that to the new Cling Jumbo Magnolia…which is FAB!!
Magnolia Bling by:Passionate Paper Creations

This was seriously so simple.  I used Copic markers. But if you don’t have a Copic addiction any markers or watercolors even distress inks would also be Fab!!

I colored the Jumbo Cling Magnolia with my Copics first adding yellow here and there for my highlights.  I then added Pirate Gold on the edges of the pedals and leaves.  Finally, paint a medium layer of glue on the background and pour on the Gold Halo Mix Glitter.  I worked in small areas to insure accuracy.   Add your ribbon, I used my favorite green and gold tulle, and you’re done.
Ok, now for a confession.  If you’ve watched Fran’s videos you’ve probably heard about mistakes or mishaps that end up being awesome.
Well, After I had all the coloring done on this tag.  I even colored the background which I also really liked and I embossed the edges of the pedals and leaves.  I wanted to carefully place the gold Halo Mix here and there for additional dimension and highlights.
Well, I walked away for a couple of minutes and when I returned my glue bottle had tipped, and I had a BIG glob of glue on the background.  In a panic I tried to wipe it off with my finger.  Nah, that didn’t work so I said to my self…”Self, you got nothin’ to loose” and poured the Gold Halo Mix on it and that is my friends is what made me decide to cover the background with the glitter.  🙂  Keep smiling and look forward to mistakes.  Because Inspiration comes from everywhere.

Introducing Jan Garber

We’d love you to meet new BlogStar Jan Garber! She’s sent us a clever post today to remind you of our July Challenge – Citrus Colors. Be sure to check out our Challenge post for the linky tool where you can link your own creations.
Plus – Join us tomorrow and all next week when we play with clear resin and our stamps. Wow…you won’t believe what we’ve made!
Here’s Jan:
What wonderful colors for SUMMER!

Lime Green, Lemon Yellow, and Orange!

The challenge for the month of July here at Stampendous Impressions is to use the refreshing colors of
CITRUS!
That’s what I have done in this Garden Journal made for my friend who lives in Iowa!

I am originally from the St. Louis area, and 15 years ago I relocated to Arizona.  A friend I went to high school with, also moved. But she went north to Des Moines. She still enjoys the Spring and Summer flowers in her backyard garden, while I sit indoors and watch the cactus out my window! (LOL!) I DO get to have a chuckle in the winter, however, when she texts to say she’s shoveling two feet of snow from her driveway! 🙂

It is my hope that she fills this journal with tons of photos and memories!
I started with a blank 6 x 6 canvas mini album cover and back.
I began by covering the back canvas piece with pattern paper, being careful to fold it over
the edges and glue securely.  I cut a piece of “solid” paper to cover the inside and the cut edges of
the pattern paper. Next, I punched the holes for the 1″ bookrings.
I decided that I wanted to make dividers for the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons.
So I cut 3 acrylic pieces from recycled packaging and again punched the holes for the bookrings. It wasn’t
until I had all of the insert sheets cut to size that I rounded all of the corners.

Please excuse the reflection in the sheets.

The day was overcast and cloudy
and I HAD to get my photos taken before continuing!
I then stamped a Jumbo Cling
Rubber
flower
onto the front of each of the clear dividers!

Next, I carefully considered what information my friend would want to include.
I printed these on my computer, then cut to size, rounded the corners, and punched the holes.
This should enable her to keep a nice record of what needs to be purchased or done at the beginning of
each season.  I included two each of the
“Growing in my garden:” sheets for each section,
knowing that she has soooo very many gorgeous plants and flowers in her yard!
(I also printed lots of extras for her to use in the coming years!
I made three of these pocketed inserts to be used behind the acrylic pages as background for the
stamped see-through flower images.  Any additional infomation can be kept here, such as
receipts for plants or idea photos.

CD pocket for a “Virtual Tour” of the garden!

NOW TO MAKE THE COVER!

I stamped the Jumbo Tiger Lily onto the canvas front in brown Momento and
heat embossed with “Dark Bark” Stampendous embossing
powder
.The look was amazing! It really popped right off the canvas!(Of course, I forgot in my excitement to color it, to take a photo!)

This is what the finished Copics colored image looks like! Can you completely blend on the textured
canvas? No, not really, but I drew my markers across the image carefully, pulling the color to the inside
from the outer edge, and it turned out surprisingly well!
To add some soft color around the image, I air brushed in green and yellow.

NOW, to put it all together!

Topping off the prettiness (is that a word?), I sprinkled Color Fragments

and Glass Glitter in
several hues.

A tiny, sheer butterfly has found a wonderful place to land, and the soft ribbons and lace
make for the finishing touch!

I can’t wait to see this album in a year and see what gorgeous memories she has stored there!

And I can relive the gardens I miss, too!

Thanks for joining me for this fun project!

Merci!

Merci by Tenia Nelson

Merci Bluecoup? Here we have another bold splash of color by BlogStar Tenia Nelson. We love that Tenia takes risks with color and also knows how to say thank you in French with our Cling Jumbo Peony! So, we say Thank You very blue, Tenia for all your lovely and colorful cards! (Yes, we are taking risks with language here- it’s bold and FUN!) Speaking of language, don’t miss our Cling Distressed Type, which Tenia used for that clever background on this bluecoup beauty.

October Card Challenge – CAS Holiday Cards

It’s the first Saturday of the month, and that means it’s time for a new challenge with the Stampendous team!  This month to kick things off on World Card Making Day, we’re looking towards the holidays AND keeping it Clean and Simple. That’s right – we’re making Clean and Simple (CAS) holiday cards!!  You’ll see a few team members showing off more than one card today; some chose to make one CAS and then take that design and “step it up”.  Others made sets of CAS holiday cards to give as gifts or use to make a dent in the Christmas (or other holiday!!) card list.

But first…the winner from September’s Sketch Challenge!! We’d love to congratulate our randomly chosen winner – ArtyCarty!!!  Congratulations! We loved your card with buttons on it, and now you’ll have a fantastic stamp set to use on your next challenge entry. Email us your mailing address and we’ll get your prize right out to you!! (email us at  submissions@stampendous.com)

October Sketch Challenge Prize

October’s challenge is to join us in making CAS holiday cards. (any holiday!) We want to help you get into the holiday spirit, so this month we are giving away a Cling Jumbo Sparkle Joy set to a random winner. You don’t have to use a Stampendous image or products to play along, but we sure love it when you do!  You have until Thursday, November 3 at 11:59 PM EST to add your link to the linky tool, and we’ll draw a random winner.  You can enter as many times as you’d like. (link to the official rules at the very top of our blog – you must have a US/APO/FPO or Puerto Rico address to win, but anyone can post their projects!!)

We’ve got a few jump starts for your imagination this weekend with lots of our Design Team creating CAS cards and posting them on their blogs. Here are just a few ideas:

Manger Silhouette by Lynn Mercurio

Lynn Mercurio is starting us off this month with this simple but oh so elegant example of an inspirational Christmas Card. She’s used our CRP137 Cling Manger Scene, CRN240 Cling Precious Bundle, and our luxurious black velvet AC990VK Jumbo Damask Leaves Class A’Peel Stickers. These fantastic velvet stickers are on a vinyl base with a fantastic adhesive that makes them dishwasher and microwave safe plus weather resistant, so they’re marvelous for indoor or outdoor craft use. They lend such an elegant air to a simple card.

Eiffle Noel by Kristine Reynolds

Kristine Reynolds this month celebrates a European holiday flavor with our CRP129 Cling Eiffel Noel embossed in our fantastic Pirate Gold Embossing Powder. What a beautifully simple card that anyone would be excited to receive (especially if you tuck a couple of tickets to Paris in the envelope!). The wood mounted version of this fantastic stamp is available at your local Michael’s Store.

Christmas Greeting by Taylor Usry

Challenge organizer and DT member Taylor Usry offers this CAS card using the fantastically versatile SSC1068 Christmas Wishes Perfectly Clear Stamps greeting set. The holly accents from the set provide just enough image while the sincere greeting remains the focal point. With four large greetings in one set you could create quite a variety of looks as well.

Finally, from the home office, in-house Sample Artist Debi Hammons offers a whimsical Christmas option this year as Changito the Monkey gets himself all tangled up in the Christmas lights. I know how he feels, I seem to end up in this situation every year at some point.

Changito Tree Lights by Debi Hammons

Debi has used CRV230 Cling Changito Tree Lights and CRG121 Cling Old World Greetings for this adorable card. After stamping and coloring Changito, she’s gone back and added some FL400 Cotton Ball White Fun Flock to the fur on his hat and some of our GX220U Multi Ultra Fine Crystal Glitter to the light bulbs for a touch of texture and fun. These were applied with a glue pen. When using flocking, be sure to press it into the adhesive with your finger before brushing away the excess to achieve good coverage.

Most of our Design Team members are playing along with our challenge today! You can check out their cards at the links below! To link your CAS Stampendous card to this month’s challenge just click on the little linky tool below and it will give you a spot to put the link to your card. We can’t wait to see what Clean and Simple Holiday means to you!!
