Hop In and “Sea” What’s New! – Color Fragments Blog Hop

This Saturday the Stampendous team has something extra special planned for you…we have combined our regular monthly challenge with a blog hop showcasing some of the great new products released at CHA last month!  Pull up a chair, grab a warm beverage and yummy snack, and get ready to be wowed!

We’ve asked our Design Team to use our new Color Fragments for this Blog Hop, creating a card, scrapbook page, or out of the box project with these little bits of pure color. Color Fragments can be applied with any adhesive, mixed with resins, paints, clays, or just used around the house in plants, fish bowls, candles, soaps, any craft you care to tackle. They are non-toxic, don’t melt at normal embossing temperatures, and you can easily crush them if you desire smaller flakes or different shapes. You’ll love our five spring colors, and you’ll adore what our team has done with them.  Now, check out the whole list of fabulousness for today:

and a VERY special guest designer for this Blog Hop

As you hop from blog to blog, being wowed by all the amazing new goodies we are showing off, be sure to leave some love (and your contact email) for the designers, as well as here on the Stampendous blog. The more you comment, the better your chances are to win one of these five fantastic prize packs.  Each one includes a brand new stamp set and bottle of color fragments:

Winners will be randomly selected from all comments left on blogs, so the more you comment the better your chances are to win one!!  You have until Sunday, February 12 th at 8:00 PM EST to leave a comment on each blog; winners will be announced on Monday, February 13th. Due to shipping restrictions, all winners must have a US/APO/FPO mailing address.

And don’t forget….We want YOU to play along with us in our monthly challenge!  Just add your direct link to your card (make sure you’ve loaded it up with tons of TEXTURE) to the linky tool below my signature (or on the Stampendous blog) no later than March 1, 2012 at 11:00 PM EST.  You do not have to use Stampendous products to play along, but we sure love it when you do!  And as an extra incentive for playing, one lucky person (drawn at random from all the entries) will receive the gorgeous Corset Ladies Perfectly Clear Stamp Set.

Last month we asked you to create a Clean And Simple Holiday card for any holiday, and tons of you leapt on board with your fantastic creations! We forgot to announce the winner last week for October’s Challenge. Today we’d like to congratulate Tenia Nelson for her non-traditional Thanksgiving Card! The drawing was completely random, but we happen to LOVE this card – the purple bow with the orange card is just so striking, and the chairs… well who isn’t thankful for chairs!!! Especially if you can fill them with family for the holiday meals! Fantastic job, Tenia!! Thanks so much for playing with us! We’ll be sending you the Cling Jumbo Sparkle Joy stamp set so you can share some holiday joy with those you love!  We really appreciate ALL of you that played last month, what a lot of fantastic cards!! And we hope it got you started thinking about your holiday stamping!
This month the challenge is to show us what you can do with chipboard, (cough cough…ahem… encrusted jewel technique…cough cough) and several of our Designers hopped on this train to show us their stuff!
Our own Lynn Mercurio made this fantastic sample featuring our Jumbo Snow Couple from the July 2011 Catalog:
Snowfall Pair by Lynn Mercurio

We’re sad to say this stamp set has sold out, but we’re sure you can find it in one of your local retail stamp stores! We just love the way Lynn embossed on her chipboard after coloring it with ink. It’s just so classy! Many of our designers this week combined the Encrusted Jewel Technique Blog Hop with the Chipboard Challenge, so you’ll see lots of cool samples on your hop around the blogs.

What can you make with chipboard? We hope you’ll show us by clicking on the Linky tool below and linking to your terrific project! This month we have a Cling Jumbo Songbird Stamp Set up for grabs! Here’s the linky tool:

You have until Thursday, December 1 at 11:59 PM EST to add your link to the linky tool, and we’ll draw a random winner.  You can enter as many times as you’d like.

Thank Heaven for Special Friends!

Our Blog Star, Kristine Reynolds, shared this wornderfully, distressed friendship card. An old friendship is like a worn-in pair of jeans; distressed, yet oh-so comfortable. Here’s what Kristine has to say about her card.

Today’s card has a fun vintage feel to ink.  The look was achieved by working with different brown tones and liberal use of distress ink.  So…prepare to get your fingers a little inky when you give this card a go!  Kristine Reynolds

SUPPLIES:

Stampendous Stamps:
CRM129 Thank Heaven Stamp
CRS5007 Jumbo Cling Dahlia Set

Paper:
Bazzill™ Kraft paper

Ink:
Versamark ink by Tsukienko™
Vintage Photo distress ink by Ranger

Other:
Clear Bard Embossing Powder
Sponge
Basic Grey Brads

INSTRUCTIONS:
Stamp Flourish on the bottom of a 5 ¼” x 4” kraft cardstock panel and the sentiment above it with Versamark ink and emboss with Clear Bark embossing powder. Distress edges of panel with scissors or a distressing tool.  Use sponge to randomly sponge distress ink all over the panel including the edges.  Adhere distressed panel to a 5 ½” x 4 ¼” top folded Kraft Card.  Install brads on the upper left of the card.

NOTE: I purposely randomly sprinkled some embossing powder in a few spots on the card to add to the distressed look.

Fran’s Painting with Powder Technique!

We just got back from Winter CHA, one of the most exciting craft trade shows bringing together hundreds of paper craft and hobby companies! CHA is the place to see the coolest trends, learn the hottest techniques and the newest products! We couldn’t have had more fun meeting and mingling with other devoted crafters. And we bumped into tons of Stampendous enthusiasts!

Here’s a great recap video of what we were doing at our booth. And you’ll meet some of the friendly faces behind Stampendous, too!

New Stamps and Stickers and Pails… Oh My!

We want to thank you for being so patient while we’ve been hard at work on new stamps and stickers! And to show our appreciation, we’re giving you the inside scoop on what we’ve been creating for the new year! Take a look at two of our Make-It Take-It projects for this weekend’s Craft & Hobby Association show held in Southern California.

These are the SSC1069 Loopy Blooms Perfectly Clear™ Stamps which look especially great paired with bright AC964 Jumbo Circle Class A’Peel™ Stickers and vibrant Glitzy Glitters. This short pail also happens to be a new Stampendous product and perfect for holding gifts or edible treats.

We’re really excited about our new AC1024HBO Koi Pond Class A’Peel™ Stickers which come in a new electrifying metallic orange and silver! They look so cool on the new mini pail along with the soft and sweet green Fuzzy Fun Flock™ and blue Glitzy Glitters.

We will post the recipe and instructions to both of these pail projects next week on our website. Make sure to check back at our blog later this week for more product unveilings!

Stampendous Favorite Stampers: Wendy’s Winter Projects

We recently received some adorable samples from one of our newest Stampendous’ Favorite Stampers, Wendy Price. Wendy was one of the lucky Paper Craft Planet Design Team who hosted a week of our recent Back To Basics Tutorial on papercraftplanet.com. Wendy got to play with our Painting With Powder Technique and made the cutest card using our SSC1055 Birch Buddies Perfectly Clear Stamps and our SSC1058 Snowy Short Stacks Perfectly Clear Stamps, along with our Crystal, Baby Blue Pastel and White Embossing Powders.

Wendy has fallen in love with Stampendous products and sent us the sweetest note commenting on our wonderful quality and “cuteness”! Thanks, Wendy! We love them, too, but it’s nice to hear from other folks who appreciate the attention to quality we give every item from Stampendous. Here are some other samples Wendy has made using the supplies above. You can see more of her terrific creations at www.paperinkandsmiles.blogspot.com

Halloween Sticker Background Technique

Kimberly Crawford_Sticker Background

We’ve recently been making unique & appealing backgrounds using our Therm-O-Web Double-Sided PEEL n STICK™ Adhesive with our Fuzzy Fun Flocks™…  We call it the Sticker Background Technique! During CHA we taught this amazing method to store owners and designers that came to our trade show booth including Kimberly Crawford, card maker extraordinaire! She went home, played around with the Sticker Background Technique and then created this stunning Halloween card (you can check it out along with her other beautiful cards on her blog):

Recipe:

Instructions:

  1. Cut a piece of Therm O Web doubled sided adhesive sheet to the size you want. Peel off the backing and apply it to the black card base.
  2. Then peel two damask stickers off and apply Plain Ol’ Black Fun Flock to the sticky side and rub the flock in.
  3. Peeling the top double sided adhesive sheet backing off of the card base,  gently place the damask stickers where you want. You can finagle the stickers a bit on the adhesive sheet, but not much, so commit carefully.
  4. Here is the fun part, dump a ton of white Fun Flock all over the adhesive sheet and damask stickers. Rub it in a circular motion until the background becomes mostly white. Tap off the excess and with a paint brush, sweep away the white Fun Flock from the damask stickers.
  5. Add an orange ribbon and  distress the edges of the black card base with a tool and added white ink.
  6. Cut out a small tag, hole-punch it, stamp a cute Halloween sentiment on it and tie it to the orange ribbon with a bit of  string.
  7. Feel free to add Dot Sparklers to the card to give it more color!

And check out our video with Fran Seiford demonstrating how to do the Sticker Background Technique!

Be sure to check out our Paper Craft Planet Back to Basics Tutorial next Wednesday, October 14th when Lesson 7 will feature more great ideas for using this technique. If you haven’t joined in on these lessons yet, it’s not too late. Fabulous prizes are offered for participants each week, and you can still join and watch all the lessons from the beginning. Check it out at www.papercraftplanet.com!
