Part of Your World 1: Mermaids and More

We’ve been sharing some fun with mermaids this week! Stampendous is lucky to be licensing the wonderful artwork of Laurel Burch, and we were especially excited to add her Mermaid Fishes Cling Rubber Stamp Set and Cutting Dies to our lineup this April. (Check out our whole April Catalog HERE)

We have so much inspiration to share with you using this wonderful stamp set! Check out all the ideas below. Feel free to click on any of the images to see it larger.

Still more exciting is this gorgeous sample that Fran Seiford, Stampendous Owner and Founder, made with her fun and dynamic Encrusted Adhesive Technique!

This gorgeous card looks so lush and complex, but it’s so super-easy to make! Just cut your cardstock, stamp, color and die cut your mermaid and her fish friends, then grab a panel of your favorite double-sided adhesive sheets. We carry two kinds, Sticky Panels and the Dreamweaver Double-Sided Mounting Paper. Place your panel down on your cardstock. Peel off the protective sheet, and place your die cut images. Then fill in the space with color fragments, glitters, and the embossing powders/enamels of your choice. Heat to set, and MAGIC!  Want to see it in action? Check out the video below.

Artistry in Painting with Powder

The Glance and PenPattern Turtle by Fran Seiford

It’s pretty exciting to see how embossing powder can be used beyond the basics and even more exciting is that these techniques have been compiled into a book by Fran Seiford for easy access to reference when using any of our line of Essentials.

Our 5-Jar Kits are great starter kits and the 14-Jar Scenic Selection Embossing Powder Set is as well. You can even pick and choose your color favorites by individual jars in clear, opaque, sparkly and the satiny shine of our PearLustre powders for your own creative favorites. There is plenty to fill your powdery needs.

If you are just getting started or a veteran with embossing powders, you will enjoy our Painting with Powder videos that encourage a little more random sprinkles and embossed layers than the basics.

In no time, you’ll be adding more Essentials to your new embossing talents with Mica Fragments, Color Fragments, Glass Glitter, and more!

Ready for some inspiration on techniques from Fran’s book? Let’s hop on over to the design team blogs sharing their embossing powder projects today.

Embossing Techniques Dreamweaver-Style

Dreamweaver Thursday is going puffy…and sparkly…and shiny…and textured…and cracked, all with the magic of Embossing Powders and Enamels! This week we’ve shown you wonderful examples of just a few of  the techniques in Fran Seiford’s new book as shown below, demonstrated with predominantly Stampendous images. Today we have plenty of embossing love to share with our Dreamweaver stencils!

Here are a few examples from the team…

Created by Louise Healy, featuring the Dreamweaver Dragon stencil, using the “Faux Cloisonné” technique found in Section F, page 24.

Created by Pam Hornschu featuring the Swirly Heart stencil design with glittery pink embossing powder from the Spring Sparkle Kit, using the “Painting with Powder” technique, found in section Y, pages 90-94.

Another “Painting with Powder” creation by Laura Drahozal. She really demonstrates the “painterly” feel to be achieved by this technique with the Dreamweaver Tree Line stencil.

LauraD_PWPTreelineFinally, another creation by Pam Hornschu, featuring the Peacock Stencil using the “Molten Magic” Technique, as found in section P, pages 38-39, with Fran•tagé Aged Enamels.

I bet we’ve surprised you today with the variety of techniques from the new book that can be easily used with Dreamweaver Stencils. We have a few more to share, but first a reminder…you can purchase the book online at Stampendous, or from crafting retail stores in your area…but wouldn’t it be awesome to win one? We are giving away THREE AUTOGRAPHED copies of the new Embossing Powder Techniques from A to Z by Fran Seiford. Stampendous Sketch Challenge!

Fun, bright colors always make Wendy, from Paper Ink and Smiles, happy and she loves using them on her cards so this weeks challenge is a color challenge. Instead of just 2 or 3 colors, how about using the entire rainbow of colors on your cards. ROY*G*BIV!

This hip card created by Wendy was made with our Tweet Cages Perfectly Clear Stamp Set and lots and lots of colored cardstock.

Wendy made a second rainbow themed card. This time with NEW Yule Penguins Perfectly Clear Stamps and some Crystal Glitter.

Jenn Dove, from the Just 4 Fun Crafts Blog, stamped this vibrant greeting card. The colors are so stunning! Along with a variety of colored papers, she used the SSC1096 Thinking Bouquet Perfectly Clear Stamps. While these are not available on our website, you can find your local store carrying Stampendous stamps (here) and ask them to order you a set.

SNEAK PEAK!… Pampered Stamper’s Pam made a pastel card packed with pretty colors, designs and embellishments. She used a few BRAND NEW Stampendous products, including R124 Love Groove, V217 Lovin You, Coastal Express Embossing Kit, Carousel Embossing Powder Kit and Razzleberry Embossing Powder Kit. These stamps are not available on our website yet, but will be very soon! They are a part of our newest release!

And last, but not least… we have our two winners from last week’s gift challenge! Congratulations to Krissy and Michelle! Also, we just caught up on sending out our past contest winner prizes, so if you haven’t received your yet, don’t worry! We most certainly have not forgotten about you and the goodies are in the mail 🙂

Krissy made this bunch of winter goodies! From gift tags to cards to gift packaging, Krissy has perfected Christmas gift packaging! This would make such a wonderful to gift to give! She used the Jumbo Snowman Perfectly Clear Stamp set, the Snow Place Perfectly Clear Stamp set and the Winter Warm Perfectly Clear Stamp set. So cool!

And we are tickled with Michelle tasty little Halloween treat! She made a popcorn present with a plastic sanitary glove and tag stamped with the D159 Happy Pumpkin Woodmounted Rubber Stamp, which also comes in Cling Rubber. We love the spider ring bling as a bonus treat!

We’re in Simply Cards & Papercraft Magazine!

How exciting! The major UK publication, Simply Cards & Papercraft, published an article about Fran’s Painting with Powder Technique!! Step-by-step, it teaches you how to become an impressionist painter by using embossing powder, with photos of each step and a list of the needed materials. They teach how to make 5 cards and 3 other projects, all that are great for gifts. Once you master these you’ll be ready to paint with powder on everything! Even canvas to make actual wall artwork! So check it out! To read the article, click on the images below to get a magnified view of each page.

SNEAK PEAK! For all those embossers out there, we are coming out with some awesome new products that we can’t keep a lid on any longer (pun intended)! Here’s a photo of the new 14 Jar embossing powder kit that will be coming out soon!

Father’s Day Card Ideas

Father’s Day is coming soon, and we have some cool Daddy Robots to share! Why not get your Robots (SSC1032 Spotz Botz) doing “Dad” things? Our Robots can play soccer, baseball, basketball, football and golf with our (SSC135 For Him) Perfectly Clear™ Set. They can also wear a tie, go fishing, paint the fence or just celebrate their special day with a balloon bouquet. Daddy Robot could also be a musician (like lots of Daddy’s we know) and play the guitar from our (SSC679 Rock Out) Perfectly Clear™ Set. So get your Botz off the couch and get stampin’!!! Your Daddy will be proud.

Dad’s appreciate Painting with Powder, too. And wine…so make your Dad a grape vineyard card for Father’s Day and tie it to a nice bottle of wine. This card uses M236 Grape Scene Stamp, EK06 Merlot Embossing Powder Kit and R113 Floral Dream Stamp.

Stamp a Changito image inside a line-up of ties to personalize your Father’s Day card for your Monkey-lovin’ Dad. Just stamp the tie image from the SSC192 Thanks Dad Perfectly Clear Stamp Set on a piece of post-it note paper and cut the inside shape of the tie out. Then cover your stamped tie image with the mask, and then stamp V175 Changito Piggyback (or CRV175 Cling Rubber) over the area where you want the image to show up. It’s a designer tie! Just what your Dad wants for Father’s Day- one that he doesn’t have to wear.

Stampendous Goes to Canada!

Fran and Ilene (our Global Sales Manager) visited Calgary, Canada last week.  In 4 days they taught 9 classes, did 5 Make & Takes plus 1 demo at 4 stores plus Camp Croppin! They had their running shoes on but had loads of fun meeting the retailers and their customers. We love sharing our techniques and ideas whenever we can.

Painting with Powder was a big hit with everyone!  Fran brought lots of sample cards and people got to learn this fun new technique.

Fran and Ilene started at Scrapbook Pantry then visited Paper Pastimes.

Education Eh? for retailers and Camp Croppin’ were next on their list.  It was great to meet 230 dedicated scrappers and get to see all the great scrapbook pages that were in progress.

They also visited Scrappers Paradise North and South where they taught and did Make & Takes. Laura L. said she was new to stamping, but she could have fooled us!

You can check out Painting with Powder on our YouTube videos and see what everyone got so excited about in the pictures here from our classes.

Fran and Ilene also taught our Sticker Background Technique with our Class A’Peel Stickers, Glitter & Flock too.  Camp Croppin’ participants got to make a really gorgeous Peacock Page and our other classes got to make the cutest pails and cards as well as Autumn Leaf page. We’ll be sharing the page projects on our website shortly; the Loopy Blooms pail project is already there for you to see and do. By the end of the trip, Fran and Ilene were covered in glitter (and flock and embossing powder) but it just made it all the more fun! They are looking forward to doing it again real soon!!

Hope you enjoy our pictures (we were so busy we didn’t take as many as we would have liked!) and then don’t forget to check our YouTube videos so you can make these projects too.

If you missed our Make & Take classes, be sure to check out the stores and events we visited:

New Scenic Serenity Stamp Series

We just know you’re going to fall in love with our new Scenic Serenity Stamp series just like one of our favorite designers Kimberly Crawford did. We made these stamps in a smaller size several years ago and while we loved the designs, inspired by Fran’s 2005 trip to Italy, we were frustrated with coloring in the too small spaces. Since they came out Fran has wanted to make these designs larger, and as she developed her Painting with Powder™ Technique she took the opportunity to enlarge them.

Just look at them now! WOW! We’re all dreaming of trips to Italy as we play with these beauties in so many ways! We took some of them to Kimberly at CHA and asked her to do her Copic magic with them and oooolala!!! She has posted some incredible samples on her blog today, and she sent us this other beautiful card. What a fabulous job! Now we love them more than ever! Look out Tuscany, the Stampendous team is dusting off our passports!

You can buy and get details about the scenic serenity stamps Kimberly used here:
