Clinging To Pumpkins On A Dreamweaver Thursday

We are clinging on to our pumpkin theme this week with a great tutorial that could be a little clingy and addicting, because you’ll be clinging to everything once you’ve seen what’s up with stencils and pumpkins. Speaking of pumpkins here are a few of the popular stencils on our website.

DWLL3036 The Great Pumpkin Stencil

DWLL531 Jack O Lanterns Stencil

Here’s a great tutorial from the archives that will help you cling to new ways of using your stencil designs.

Supplies:

Taped stencil

Step 1: Apply tape to all four sides of stencil and onto craft sheet.

Paste on spreader

Step 2: Using palette knife, apply paste along edge of spreader approximately the same width as the stencil design.

Spreading paste

Step 3: Spread four fingers along back of spreader, and apply paste at an acute angle across the stencil. If there are gaps, place paste with palette knife in them, and then go back over the design with the spreader at a 90 degree angle.

Spreaded

removed stencil

Step 4: Carefully remove tape from three sides and use a fourth piece as a hinge to lift stencil up and away. Clean stencil immediately with warm water and a nail brush.

Glitter coverage

Step 5: Pour glitter over wet paste and carefully press into surface. Set aside to dry.

(Follow above steps with Bats stencil as well.)

glue connectors

Step 6: When dry, shake off glitter onto scrap paper, and funnel back into jar. (Note: A “Swiffer” cloth is great for removing excess glitter.) Apply drops of glue between each section of design as a bridge. Let dry.

Step 7: Carefully peel “clings” from craft sheet and press apply onto clean pumpkins, no extra glue needed. Clings can be removed if desired. They can also be pressed onto windows, glass hurricane lanterns, etc.

Winter and Christmas Card Making

Today is Winter and Christmas card making day here on our blog with six All in One stamps to see! Christmas is the biggest season for card giving and if you have made your cards before you know that it can be a time consuming task.

Our All in Ones are here to help to create oodles of quick cards that are cheerful and darling surely to put smiles on friends and families faces. Each stamp has a focal image, a phrase, a background and a frame so finishing up your holiday cards will be a breeze.

Here are stacks of each stamp design on a colorful monoprint paper made with the Creative Palette Monoprinting Plate, DecoArt paint and a couple NK Studio Stamps Sets for texture, then they were glued onto a neutral card base for quick work of your mailing list. Now isn’t that a vision of fun!

Jennie Lin Black created a set of cards with a few adorable embellishments for a special touch. These are all so sweet!

Now let’s see what design direction our team went on their All in One cards. Enjoy, leave some comment love and we’ll see you back here next week when we’ll be creating more for Christmas.

Dreamweaver Double Days Finale…a Bit of Magic with Mica

Here we are on our final day of Dreamweaver Double Days! We’ve loved all of your wonderful comments regarding the technique videos and the samples that we’ve shared here, as well as on the individual team blogs. This tells us that YOU love it when we share all of our not-so-secret tips with YOU! So…expect to see more in the future! Today’s video is a technique tutorial that always has the recipients of your creations going, “Ooooh and aaaah”! Follow along as Dreamweaver Stencils‘ founder, Lynell Harlow, demonstrates using mica powders* with Matte and Glossy Embossing Pastes

Amazing, isn’t it? And super easy to do. How about a double dip of samples from our team members featuring this technique?

alison_Textured-Feather-1
Created by Alison Heikkila featuring the Dreamweaver Open Feather design with Pearlescent Embossing Paste and Metallic F/X powders. This technique is called Molten Magic!
Kristine_floral with dots F:X
Created by Kristine Reynolds featuring the Dreamweaver Stylized Dahlia, Matte Black Embossing Paste, and Metallic F/X mica powders.

WHOA! Wait just one minute, you say? Alison’s card is not the same technique at all. Mmmm. Yes it is, with one variation. This is the Molten Magic technique, so called because you paste-emboss just as in the video (preferably a glossy paste), sprinkle it with mica powders*, and HEAT it using a heat tool until it is puffy and bubbly. This adds great texture, and a totally different look, and all she did was heat it! Pssst, you can do this technique with Stampendous Fran•tagé Embossing Enamels, for a totally different look as well!

Now, let’s go see what the team members have been playing with for today. Oh, and leave them some love, please. They’ve worked hard this week!
