A new lilac image arrived in our House-Mouse stamps to add to the lovely lilacs theme of products. We adore this Lilac Aroma stamp as much as Monica does smelling the fragrance of these syringa flowers.
And we know the lilac is Monica’s favorite flower because she was caught smelling the Scent of Lilac on another stamp and smelling flowers is any House-Mouse personal amusement in the garden. Stop by the House-Mouse stamp section of our website to see more!
Before we move on to inspiration from our design team today, here are more flowers we want you to see from the latest catalog. Cyclamen and Geraniums are beautiful and a joy to make into cards or adding to your garden journal.
And now here is the entire week of design team inspiration starting with today’s posts.
Fran created this beautiful springtime card easily by using the coordinating dies for the butterflies, lilac, and leaves, but she used another valuable die tool to give the card it’s dimensional look.
If you guessed Fran’s Pop Up, Die Set you are correct, but if you alternately said Pop Up Stages Die Set that would work just as great! Our Pop Up Stages offers more variation in dimension with the individual dies for columns, tabs, and stages, but the results are spectacular whichever die set that you choose.
Adding dimension with our Lilac stamps and dies extends to this fantastic mixed media key piece by Dee Adams.
The butterflies were stamped into Chunky Embossing Powder on a die cut to give depth to the wings. As well Dee added them, so they look like they are taking a brief rest on the antiqued key. Click the photo’s caption for more information about this amazing project.

We’re wrapping up our week of introducing you to our new Laurel Burch line of rubber stamps. If you want to try and achieve that Laurel Burch look, we thought we’d offer a few tips we’ve learned working with her images. Stay tuned for more tips in future posts.
– Cats, Dogs, etc. have more human shaped eyes rather than rounded animal shapes
– Women, cats, etc. usually have multiple “eye shadow” colors above and/or below
– Colors are vivid and vibrant not muted.
– Paints are blended from one color to another
– Blend from yellow to oranges and then reds not yellow next to red
– Colors often change from one hue to another in the same vivid value spectrum.
– Warm color blends are next to complementary cool color blends.
Ex: Yellow orange flowers might then have a border color of aqua blues.
– Accent with metallic gold paints or pens.
– Embellish with dots, swirls or geometric patterns.
– Offset bright color images with deep blue or black, not just white backgrounds.
– Dark mottled or starry skies are a favorite.
– Asymetrical, overlapping, close spacing no big open spaces.
– Layers of hand made papers with torn or deckle edges.
– Papers to match the Copic Marker color chart.
– Metallic accents of gold paper or embossed gold patterns and encrusted edges
