Essentially Fabulous! Join our November Challenge

Hello Stampendous Friends, UK Correspondent Asia King here :). I thought I would share this project with you in honor of Stampendous’ Essentials Challenge this month!

I’ve recently attended a lovely beads and wire workshop to my repertoire, and I’ve decided to put my new skills into practice :). What I love most about this project is the combination of my all-time favourites – Stampendous stamps and Essentials, printed napkins and gorgeous jewellery bling!

My project was inspired by this month’s Essentials challenge at Stampendous blog. We’d love to see what you can make with Glass Glitter, Colour Fragments, Mica Fragments, Embossing Enamels, Glitters, etc. If you need to do any essential shopping pop over here to our Essential Boutique :).

And here are the step-by step instructions:

1. Stamp CRM285-R Cling Bluebird Branch onto a scrap paper (I used Tim Holtz shabby chic pack).

2. Colour the image with pencils or markers.

3. Layer on a couple of flowers cut out from a printed napkin.

4. Trim the card about 1cm larger than your acrylic fragment. Sprinkle the edges with Shabby White Embossing Enamel and heat with a heat gun from underneath.

5. Choose your desired shape from the Tim Holtz Fragments Charms and add a good amount of Glossy Accents to the acrylic fragment.

6. Sprinkle some Multi Crystal Mix Glitter onto Glossy Accents.

7. Layer your fragment onto your artwork and move around slightly to spread GA. Don’t worry, Glossy Accents dries clear so you won’t see any glue residue after it dries.

8. When dry, cut around the fragment with a craft knife and sand the edges gently. Cover the back of the paper with Glossy Accents to seal your pendant. When dry, paint the edges with a silver acrylic paint, if desired.

9. Repeat the above for the ear rings, using small TH fragments.

10. To decorate the fronts, add some Glossy Accents in places and layer with Champagne Glass Glitter, Silver Glass Glitter and some beads and pearls.

11. Add more GA on top and sides and sprinkle with Multi Crystal Mix Glitter. Tap off the excess.

12. Using beads and wire assemble your necklace and ear rings.

(Lucky) 13. And… enjoy wearing them! lol 😉

If you are new to Fran•táge beauties, why don’t you try the lovely Treasure Kits, with a selection of coordinating essential products. They are absolutely fabulous! Check out the Glitter Kit, Embossing Kit and Mica Kit

I hope you’ll like my Essential Saturday inspiration and I look forward to seeing what you create. I’m sure you’ll have lots of fun playing with glitters and powders, I certainly have! Look at that sparkle – I love it!

Big hugs

Hair Bling

BLING IT ON JANELLE!

Our Blog Star Janelle Stollfus created this beautiful Hair Bling Clip. How creative is our design team?

"Hair Bling" by Janelle Stollfus

Here’s Janelle and her handy dandy directions with step outs!

“Our amazing Design Coordinator, Laura Mann Weed, has been sweetly suggesting to step outside of our card making arena and try something off-paper. So I did… kind of, but still with paper.
This is a quick project and the options again are endless with the Fran-tage Essentials. This hair bling would look equally fantastic with the Aged Embossing Enamel line. I’m thinking Aged Black for the next one!”  – Janelle

SUPPLIES:
Stampendous Champagne Crushed Glass Glitter
Stampendous Chunky Clear Embossing Enamel

OTHER SUPPLIES:
metallic paper flower shape dies in various sizes (Nestabilities Bloom dies used)
metal hair pin or barrette
metal gluepiercing tool and mat
heavy duty scissors
heat resistant craft mat
wool felt scrap
large brad

Here’s How:

Step 1

1. Punch out 2-3 times with various sizes of flower shapes (3 punches of each shape shown). Pierce through the center of all shapes.

Step 2

2. Crumple all the shapes and flatten them out. <http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SzxtHaiGOvM/TyPXoLtldfI/AAAAAAAAC40/aX4WoUms7w0/s1600/03flattenandthread.jpg>

Step 3

3. Stack the shapes largest shape to smallest shape and thread onto a large brad. I liked the way the gold brad looked so I switched to Champagne glass glitter instead of the silver shown in the supplies photo.
<http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nxd-OE5LLys/TyPTeuAHfHI/AAAAAAAAC4s/uq3Vxu1qA5A/s1600/032flattenandthread.jpg>

Step 4

4. Weave the brad through a hair barrette and trim down with heavy duty scissors. Bend those sharp edges around the outside of the barrette so there’s no chance of them cutting anything.

Step 5

5. Glue brad to hair pin and cover with wool felt. Note: Be sure not to glue the pin closed.

Step 6

6. Place a heat resistant craft sheet or silpat baking sheet on top of a table that is covered with a piece of cardboard or cutting pad. (*WARNING: Please be extremely careful with this step. The best way to do this step is to have a melting pot, but if you are like me and do not own one you can decide if you want to proceed to this step. Please read through this whole step before starting any part.)

Closest to the edge of the table but still on the craft mat, pour a small amount of Chunky Clear Impressions Embossing Enamel. A few inches away pour out some Frantage Champagne Crushed Glass Glitter.

Carefully slide the craft mat off the table until the heat gun can be to heat from underneath the mat. Direct the heat gun and away from the table AND the hand that is holding the mat.

*** Please, please hear me when I say, think through this step before you start. I don’t want any emails telling me that you have burned your table, chair, hand or anything else during this step. I made quick checks along the way to make sure nothing was getting hot.***

Direct the heat towards the embossing enamel and as it starts to melt it will shrink to a puddle. Once the enamel is melted, grab the flower and dip and twist the edges around in it. Now quickly put those edges into the glass glitter. This step needs to be quick while the enamel is still soft.

Repeat as often as needed to apply the pliable enamel and glitter.

Enjoy your new hair accessory!

Saturday Sketch Challenge

This week’s challenge is brought to you by the Scrappy Chick, Cyndi B. She came up the the delicious idea to do a “recipe” sketch. And that isn’t what you’d think it would be. You’re not expected to make recipe cards. A recipe sketch challenge is where we give you a list of things you need to include in your card or scrapbook page. For this challenge, we’d like you to use:

  • the color black
  • some glitter (or bling)
  • ribbon

Pretty simple, right? It doesn’t have to be Halloween theme. The Design Team members just made their samples Halloween themed because we’re in the beginning of the spooky season right now.

Here’s the example Cyndi came up with. She used:

Cyndi also made this darling door hanger for a different sketch challenge she’s going to have on her blog later, but it happens to fit for our challenge, too! Cyndi used these products in her hanger:

Wendy made a door hanger, too (they make awesome one-of-a-kind Halloween decorations!). Here’s her list of Stampendous products used:

Jen created this crafty card with these supplies:

And the winners from last week’s sweet and simple challenge are:

Michelle! This fun and playful everyday card is absolutely adorable! She stamped the images with the Flower Chat Perfectly Clear Stamp Set. We love the cheery color palette and embellishments!

Also, congratulations to Carol! She stamped this stylish card that would surely bring a smile to anyone’s face. She used our NEW Thinking Bouquet Perfectly Clear Stamps Set, which you can find at your local store supplying Stampendous stamps. It will be available on our website soon!
