CHA (and Stampendous) at the EMMYS!!

It’s so exciting!! The Craft And Hobby Association is bringing Cre8time to television’s Emmy Awards.  Saturday, Sept 21 from 11 am – 4 pm PDT some of the industry’s top companies will be inviting Emmy nominated celebrities to make some time to create something cool! All nominees were personally invited with a gift of handmade jewelry, and paper crafting and jewelry crafting companies will be on hand to help these famous folks see what WE all love so much about this wonderful hobby! They’ll get to stuff their goodie bags with #chaswag!

CHA’s own Sue Turchick will be wearing a gorgeous necklace handmade by our very own Design Team member Kristine Reynolds!! Here it is:

This piece of gorgeous green goodness is going to perfectly accent Sue’s orange blouse for the big event!  We’re excited to see if any celebs notice and comment on this cool piece! Sue promised to get a photo if so!The whole event is part of a huge movement to spread the joy and knowledge of crafting to folks who may not have tried it yet! You can always be part of this by visiting http://www.cre8time.org where you’ll find heaps of projects geared for every crafting level.  You can even upload your own great projects so that others can try them.

Charity Wings (a great organization in its own right!) will be on hand interviewing the celebs as they enter the Nokia Theatre for their crafting experience! You can catch the WHOLE THING live streaming at their video feed HERE.

We hope you can take some time to watch the craft industry meet the big time! You can find more information about Kristine’s beautiful necklace project on our website HERE.

Birthday Mail Campaign

BIRTHDAY_MAIL_CAMPAIGN

DOSomething.org is a new website inviting folks to participate in a huge variety of activities to give back to their communities. They post women’s issues, pets available for adoption, and so much more. Now they’ve started a trend that Stampendous can really get behind!  Birthday Mail is a campaign running from July 30 – October 11, 2013 to collect handmade birthday cards at homeless shelters to help homeless children celebrate their birthdays! We were so excited about this idea that we immediately popped a pile of cards in a priority mail envelope and sent it off! We love handmade birthday cards and think everyone deserves one! We know you do, too.

Find out more: DO Something.org Birthday Mail

Make some cards and share them! Make them with friends, make them with your children, make them with your church or school group! DOSomething.org will award one lucky card maker a $4,000 scholarship, but that’s just a bonus!  The real joy will come from sharing your talent with others!

Share your card on our Facebook Page when you share it on the Birthday Mail Website and we’ll enter you to win our darling Birthday Kiddos Perfectly Clear Stamps! Now THAT sounds like a winning proposition!!

Summer of Love

Ok, Carmi Cimicata got me again. You’d think after the fish leather I would have said “no” to her next challenge. “But surely,” I thought, “she couldn’t stump me quite that badly again!”.  Heh heh… I swear that girl is chuckling to herself every time she does this.

Even though I wore bell bottoms and even hip huggers and mini skirts, I’m pretty over the 60’s. But I guess the good folks at Dazzle-It are expecting a revival. So Summer of Love it is. Most everyone else in the hop made jewelry, but cardmaking is what we do.

My box included some GORGEOUS, colorful hemp from Dazzle-It. The colors are fantastic, my only sadnesses were that it doesn’t fit through the holes in the beads and you CANNOT find the end of the hemp to save your life. I had to rip the card to get it off. But it’s perfect for scrapbooking and card making.  So here are my creations! Leave some love and hop on to see what everyone else has made with these fun products! Dazzle It Summer Love Hop

All my Stampendous products used are available at JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores or on our website at the links!

Cre8time! Make a really fun Kid’s Project.

This year the Craft and Hobby Association (a trade organization) is launching a terrific initiative to encourage folks to rediscover their passion for crafting.

Cre8time is about finding 8 hours a month to be creative. It’s a great project to do with the children in your life, an opportunity to introduce them to a new craft, or one you’ve always loved. Divide the time however you want! One whole Saturday, two hours a week on Monday night, whatever works for your schedule, just promise yourself the time to make something. You can give away or keep the results, you can sell them on a website like etsy.com, artfire.com, or handmade.com, you can teach someone else, or craft quietly and therapeutically alone.

Stampendous has also committed to this project, and we’re providing some terrific craft ideas you can make or make with children. The Cre8time website is full of projects like this one, and more are being added every day. Join us, and get back to crafting!  Our project this week is an adorable game for kids created by our own DT member Kristine Reynolds. You can find the instructions HERE.

As we add projects, we’ll share some of them with you here. We hope you’ll find the time to Cre8time and reignite your passion for your craft.

Stampendous Designer moves to the BIG Time!

Our own Jennifer Ingle has moved to the Fifth Round in the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol Competition! Her adorable card for this round uses THREE Stampendous Perfectly Clear Stamps Sets! It has “real” gears that with the turn of a crank at the bottom cause the candles at the top to move back and forth and “flicker”. What a fantastic project! We hope you’ll visit her blog at Just Jingle and leave her some love. THEN follow her link to the Gallery Idol Voting area and vote for her! We’d sure love to see her win!

ALSO Alice! –

For the whole month of April we’re wandering in Wonderland looking “Splendidly Dressed” as we collaborate with The Altered Alice Blog. Our designers and theirs are using the gorgeous Wonderland Perfectly Clear Stamps Set to create Splendid projects to inspire you. You may create whatever you like on the theme Splendidly Dressed. It doesn’t even have to be Alice themed. (But Alice themed projects count as two for the drawing!) A little Alice inspiration comes your way today from our new BlogStar Tenia Nelson.

Tenia has had some serious fun with our Wonderland stamp set.

Her contribution today to our Altered Alice Blog collaboration shows Alice very Splendidly Dressed indeed with the card sporting a paper doily and a spiffy blue bow. We know you’re going to love this easy to make, but very stylish, greeting.

For Your Birthday by Tenia Nelson

You can leave a link to your own creation over at the Altered Alice Blog and three winners will get our Wonderland set for their very own!  Now that IS Splendid!

Stampendous Supports Operation Write Home

I’m sure many of you have participated in projects like this, and we think it’s just amazing how the stamping community has backed some terrific organizations by sending in extra swap cards, old samples, or even just getting together in a group and making a few dozen “simple, quick” cards for our hard-working, life-risking servicemen and women overseas. Getting a handmade card is such a treat, as you know, and being able to send one from a place like Afghanistan or Iraq is an unbelievable luxury for our overseas armed services.

Operation Write Home is one such organization, and we met recently at CHA with their President Sandy Allnock. Sandy explained to our sales department just what a blessing it is to soldiers deployed around the world to be able to look through a box of handmade cards and select one to send home to celebrate the birthday or special occasion of a loved one. What a treat for them to let someone know they remembered even though the Iraqi desert is distinctly void of Hallmark stores (and not a scrapbook store in sight!). This organization collects cards and encourages folks to write letters that would be appropriate for any soldier to be delivered to them far from home. They’ve sent over one million cards so far, and they’re still going strong.

If you have extra cards at home, we encourage you to sort through them for those that might meet their guidelines and send them to your nearest card processing center. These cards could really change someone’s life… how amazing is that??!! Thanks, Sandy and your team, for taking care of our guys and gals ensuring our freedom.  You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter, and they have lots of videos on YouTube and even a terrific Blog.  I really enjoyed browsing their website. They have tons of great stuff on there including free stamps for the back of your cards, and lots of downloadable flyers to start cardmaking events in your area or to collect cards at a local store.

We appreciate Sandy giving us so much information about her organization and taking the time to make us a handmade Thank You card. We thought we’d share it with you here! What a terrific card using our SSC1111 Agapanthus Thank You. Thanks, Sandy, we love it!
