Welcome Home by Asia King

Hello everyone, Asia King here. Today I’d like to share a card I made for my friends as a house warming gift.

My friends once lived near a house with chickens and they used to get woken up every morning at 4.00AM by their neighbours’ rooster. So I thought I would make a card with a suitable image so they can fondly remember their old place…:-P.

To add to my rooster/countryside theme I decided to use a chalkboard look, inspired by the card shared by Tobi Crawford here. Except for my chalkboard ‘dust’ I used chalk pencils and Picket Fence Distress Stain.

1. Stamp the cling Rooster Elements with clear embossing ink onto black card. Heat emboss it in White Detail Embossing Powder.
2. Add a doodled frame around the image with a white chalk pencil. Add chalk dust with the Picket Fence Distress Stain.
3. Prepare your card blank and cover it with patterned papers, ribbon and burlap trim. Layer your image panel over 3D foam squares. Stamp the words ‘new home’ onto patterned paper using Vintage Lowercase Perfectly Clear stamps and cut the letters out.
4. Distress the edges with a paper distresser. Chalk up the letters with the Picket Fence stain.
5. Mount the banner and flowers onto the card using 3d foam squares. Add a sprinkle of Fran-tage using Red and Green Encrusted Jewel Kits (I’m sorry, I forgot to take the picture at this stage). Heat from underneath.
So what are your ‘new beginnings’ for this year? We hope you’re planning to check out and participate in our Monthly Challenges!
Thanks for visiting today. Until next time!
Big crafty hugs

  1. Wow, what an awesome card! So detailed too. Love the chalkboard rooster and how you colored the edges with some of the elements from the jewel kits. Love everything about it, the banner, the flowers. Great job! Thanks for sharing.

  2. Love this card and can’t stop looking at it! The dimension, the chalkboard rooster, the banners, the flowers, the lady bug on the tiny clothes pin are all working beautifully together!
