Christmas is in the Essentials!

Hello friends, BlogStar Annette Witherspoon here! This month, Stampendous is hosting a challenge to make a Clean and Simple Christmas card. But I just can’t get creating without thinking about including a ton of yummy Stampendous Essentials on my cards! What are Essentials, you ask?  They are embossing powders, glitter, flock, color fragments and mica fragments. Click here to see the large selection of high quality Stampendous Essential Elements. I can tell you from personal experience that they are an essential item for your craft stash. If you don’t have any, you may want to add them to your Christmas list!

Speaking of Christmas … it’s right around the corner. I made this card using a variety of Essential Elements, including embossing powder, embossing enamel (which is a little chunkier than powder and perfect for Fran·táging), mica fragments and glitter.

First, I stamped the Jumbo Cling Poinsettia onto the page of an old book with VersaMark, then heat embossed it using Pirate Gold Embossing Powder. I distressed the flower using gold tones on the inside and deeper red tones toward the outer edges of the petals and fussy cut it.

Next, I adhered some Mica Fragments to the center of the flower, then adhered Shaved Ice to the outer edges of the petals. I “finished” it off with some Fast Finish to seal the flower and ensure the elements stay on the card. The sentiment, called Cling Seasons Post, is also embossed in Pirate Gold.

For the base, I stamped Perfectly Clear Snowflake Symphony with Versa Mark ink and embossed with Stampendous Detail White Embossing Powder. I wanted to add a little more snow effect, so I Fran·táged the edges with Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel and distressed over it.

You can make a Clean and Simple (or Fran•táged and Fabulous!) Christmas card of your own and enter it in our challenge by linking it to the kitty link button at the right.

  1. Beautiful card! I love the frantage look overwhelming the clean and simple card idea! Your poinsettia is beautiful, I love the shaved ice on the edges and the colors in the background and the snowflakes are awesome too! Love it! Thank you for sharing.
