September Embossing – Rhea Weigand

You know by now that our September Challenge theme is Embossing Techniques! We hope you’re preparing your projects to share with us and linking them to the linky tool with our Steampunk F.E. Linus cat either at the bottom of this post or in the right side bar. Remember, if you use Stampendous stamps, your entry counts twice!
Today, BlogStar Rhea Weigand is showing us a fun way to create a beautiful look by combining the fun of coloring with Copics topped by the glorious raised shine of embossing.
Hi, Rhea here to help keep you inspired for the September Challenge at Stampendous
Embossing Tricks & Techniques
I’m so excited about this month because almost every project I do has embossing in it somewhere.
In this design I’ve used Copic™ markers to color and Wedding Corners Perfectly Clear Stamps to emboss over my coloring.  I just love the way this turned out.
After I was completely done with coloring the CRS504 Jumbo Poinsettia (available at Michaels Stores), I stamped and embossed the swirls from Wedding Corners Perfectly Clear Stamps over it in VersaMark ink.
First I used Aged Ivory…just a few and then went over the top with more swirls in Pirate Gold.
After embossing I accented the middle of the flowers with Halo Gold Mix.  I added red berries by dotting red Stickles and then finished with ribbon and a couple of charms.
This tag will definitely be turned into a Christmas Card! Hope you’re joining our challenge with your own embossed creation!
Several of our Design Team have posted samples of embossing techniques to inspire you this week. Here are the links to their websites so you can see (and comment on) their glorious projects:

And here’s our Linky tool so you can link your projects by October 4th!

  1. I’m just curious when the Jumbo Cling Poinsettia will be available at Michaels. It has been mentioned before here on your blog and again today and I’ve been checking my local Michaels stores for weeks now and it’s still not there (I even know the managers of two stores and they tell me they have not seen them yet.). I have quite a few of the Jumbo Cling stamps and LOVE them so would really appreciate seeing more of them in my local stores. My local Joanns store actually has a larger selection of the Jumbo Clings than Michaels but both stores have had the same ones forever and never seem to get any of the newer ones. I realize that the “big box” craft stores don’t really understand how the stamping world works. It sure would be nice if more stamping customers would try to educate them about our “needs”. 🙂 And your company’s sales reps should work to educate them as well. I have never seen any of your newer Stampendous embossing powders and enamels in local stores. We need more Stampendous products in local stores!! 🙂

    • You’re right, CC, we’d LOVE to see more of our products in local stores. Our local sales reps diligently visit stores constantly and show them our new products, but store owners have limited budgets, of course. They order the things that customers ASK for. So if you’re in an independently owned local store, please ask for our newest products. They can order for you right away, and we can get them shipped right out. As for Michaels, all of our products don’t go into all of their stores. They have many sizes of stores and some products only go to the biggest ones, then fewer and fewer on down the sizes. There may be a “different size” of Michaels a little farther away from you. Another great place to try is JoAnn.com, they have many more of our products than they carry in the store.

Other great places to try are the dealers located on our Dealer Locator on our website. (www.stampendous.com/dealers) In the Online Dealer section you’ll find stores like simonsaysstamp.com, addictedtorubberstamps.com, and 123stitch.com that carry huge ranges of our products, even lots of older, retired products. Hope this helps you find the products you’re wanting this holiday season!
