Hi there! It’s Blogstar Tobi Crawford here with more colouring ideas with some of my favourite Stampendous stamps. Today I coloured up Tiger Baby with Copic markers and paired him with a sentiment from the Perfectly Clear™ Stamp set called Friendship Assortment.

So you’re my guinea pigs today! I have seen a new colouring technique pop up here and there, and I thought I would give it a shot and show you my results. This is the first time I’ve tried it, so go easy on me, ok??

Here’s the deal. Stamp with light ink:

I stamped this image with “Scattered Straw Distress Ink” by Ranger. Yes Distress Inks work with Copics! I coloured two images at the same time in case I really messed up – and I did – and I found out that you need to keep it light in order to 1) see the lines of the image and 2) keep the colours defined.

Here he is all completed. It’s a much more subtle effect and it almost looks like I could have drawn him by hand – even though there’s NO WAY. Ever!

A couple tips I picked up: you have to go over some elements with darker ink so they stand out (whiskers, eyebrows, shadows…), using my grey/black charcoal pencil technique doesn’t work! ( I used a brown chalk pencil instead).

Here are the Copics I used:

Was this helpful? I hope you give it a try. Remember to keep it light!
