The Fun is Still Going Strong – ClearScraps and Stampendous – Day 5

We’re still enjoying our entire week of blogging with the Design Team at ClearScraps! They have some serious talent over there and our DTs have really stepped up to the plate to bring us some fantastic pieces this week. We have lots more inspiration for you today and tomorrow (Saturday, June 30) is our BIG Blog Hop. Some of the gals have sneeked us a peek at their creations and you’re going to be astonished! Get some good coffee and a yummy treat Saturday morning, because you’re not going to want to move away from the computer for a minute!

To start off our Friday we have another fun project to show you.

Old World Santa by Laura Weed

Sorry for the weird photo, but it’s kind of difficult to photograph the cards when you’ve focused on the “clearness” of it in making it! This card demonstrates several unique properties of stamping with the Clear Scraps products.

One thing I love about stamping on acrylic is that I can see through it. This means that after inking the stamp up with my StazOn ink I can set the stamp rubber side up on the table and place the acrylic on top of it EXACTLY where I want the image positioned.

I can then gently place a piece of scratch paper over the top and rub for a perfect image. The funny thing about StazOn on acrylic is that it takes a bit of time to dry. I’m not particularly patient, but you want to clean the StazOn off your stamps immediately with StazOn cleaner, so cleaning your stamp gives you the perfect amount of time to dry your ink.

My old world Saint Nick came out just perfect!

Another thing I love about the acrylic products is that they come with a protective film on them. I use this film to try out ideas. I thought I wanted to use our Marble Texture Cube on the back of the Santa in StazOn Blazing Red. I decided to try it on the film before committing myself.

Yikes! No…that was too busy and not the look I wanted. So I easily peeled off the protective coating and had a clean slate. I decided to use a bolder side of the texture cube and the Olive StazOn and avoid stamping over Santa’s face.

Santa needed a background and I used the snowflake swirl from the Jumbo Merry and Magical set on a card made from the large 12″ X 12″ sheets of acrylic that Clear Scraps has. Cotton White StazOn was the perfect solution for that, of course.

I used some more white StazOn on a Sponge Dauber to color Santa’s beard white from the back side of the tag. I used another Sponge Dauber and some StazOn Platinum ink to add a bit of a border to the tag. I used a second tag and the Merry and Magical greeting in Black StazOn. To give it some bling, I ran it through my Xyron sticker maker and sprinkled some Gold Halo Glitter Mix on the back and covered the rest of the back with Pearlized Mica Fragments.  I tied the two tags together with some jute twine and attached them to the card front with some pop up Glue Dots. I’m really happy with the result.

  1. Beautiful tags / card. I love the stamping. I think it would have been cool to run the acrylic background thru an embosssing machine to get a little more texture to it. Thanks for the inspiration!
