Journey to OZ!

Weeeeeee’re off to see the Wizard!!! Yes, we are! Our new Oz inspired stamps are just so much fun we couldn’t resist focusing on them first from our April 2013 catalog! Plus our very own Lisa Hindsley drew some of the most darling characters, so it gives us a chance to brag on her. AND it highlights our Digital Downloads since they’re new as well and include two sets of phrases just for our Oz images! So join us as we ease on down that Yellow Brick Road this week…

Ok, you HAVE to love this stamp! Amazing Shoes! Wow…amazing legs! Depending how you color it, she can either have bobby sox and bare legs, or cuffed pants and bare ankles, or…. wow… you have to try this! Here Lisa used the new Amazing Shoes stamp with the No Place Sentiment and some Yellow Mica Fragments to be the Yellow Brick Road. So Clever!! We think there’s no place like a pair of Amazing Jeans! Lookie here:

Of course our Design Team member Jennifer Dove had to drop a house on us before we saw this:

And, of course, without her and her hysterical sense of humor and a few extra lines from her Copic Markers, we NEVER would have had this:

Definitely more the sort of thing I’d expect to see a hip and trendy witch wearing under a house!! I’m not sure even Lisa envisioned this level of versatility, but if you don’t have to have this stamp now then we probably need to check your pulse!!  Here’s Jennifer’s POST about this terrific card and she promises “a tutorial of sorts” on how to make the card base.

Also go check out these other Design Team Members who have Adventures in the Land of Oz to post today! And come back tomorrow as we take a few more steps towards the Emerald City!

Joy to the World – CAS Christmas Card Challenge

BlogStar Annette Witherspoon loves our Cling Jumbo Poinsettia stamp. Stamped, colored, cut out, popped up over a piece of old sheet music and some background paper. What could be more Christmasy or cheerful?!!

During her term as BlogStar, Annette has created several different versions using our Poinsettia, all of them stunning. This great stamp is still available in your local Michaels Stores, you know. As well as at many of our fantastic retailers.
We hope you’ve been good this year and worked on your Clean And Simple Christmas Cards! The deadline for this Challenge is today at 11:59 pm…so you still have a little bit of time to load your creations to our linky tool at the right. (the one with FELinus the cat on it, just click on him to be taken to the tool where you can enter a link to your card).  We’re still going to be bringing you some fantastic Clean And Simple (and complex and messy and vintage and fun) cards from now until the big day, we’ve got lots more Christmas spirit to share!
Our Design Team has been super busy this month (I’m thinking I ran them a little ragged between our catalog deadline, our WeeScapes blog and this challenge), but they’ve managed to come up with some really cool inspiration for you if you still need ideas for entering. Check them out below!

Stampendous is Hopping to a Fast Finish!

This week has been so fun as we’ve painted Fast Finish on just about every surface we could find from light switch covers to …well… just about everything else.  We knew this product was fast-drying, easy to clean up, and perfectly clear, but we did learn this week that you can color it with Distress Ink Refills. Well, Rhea Weigand discovered it. Here’s her final project in this week of fun projects.

Hi there!!  This is Rhea again and the fun week with Stampendous and Beacon Adhesives comes to an end today with our Blog Hop.  It’s been so much fun this week playing with Fast Finish Medium and exploring the possibilities.  I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as we have!
This is my favorite project for this week.  It also happened to be the quickest and easiest. Learn more by click here..Rhea’s Nesting Bird

The whole team is playing along today, so be sure to visit all of the blogs and leave some insightful, kind comments (the kind that let us know you looked at the project) and we’ll give some great prizes, sending some of you with U.S. mailing addresses some Fast Finish Decoupage Medium and some Stampendous Stamps. Here we go…

Fast Finish Fall!!

We’re celebrating with our good friends at Beacon Adhesives this week! Beacon has been an industry leader in adhesives for over 75 years. Their generosity to Stampendous has been remarkable. We discovered some years ago making store displays that their ZipDry™ Paper Glue was the only adhesive we could find that didn’t fall apart under prolonged exposure to fluorescent lights in stores. We use Zip Dry for all our samples we send out.  We’re proud to be included on their list of Beacon Buddies

Recently, however, they introduced us to Fast Finish! This amazing decoupage medium drys super quickly (no waiting hours between coats), super shiny, and COMPLETELY FREE OF TACKINESS!!  Yay! We’re so pleased with the results we’ve received on so many surfaces. We know you’re going to love this product, too.  Our designers have prepared some inspiration using Fast Finish and other Beacon Adhesives for a whole week of fun, and we’ll be sending some lucky U.S. address winners (really, we love you internationally, but don’t ask us to export glue) some Fast Finish and some Stampendous goodies.

I’d like to start by showing you a little Fall/Halloween project I came up with using this terrific product. I found this very fun paper mache pumpkin in a local gift store:

And I thought I’d like to cover it with tissue stamped in our CRR147 Cling Lacy Background Stamp. I stamped the stamp all over Kraft colored tissue with VersaFine ink and allowed it to dry. I didn’t worry about the lines between the stamps at all or the wrinkles in the tissue…it gave it a super cool look.

Then I just brushed the Fast Finish on the pumpkin and applied torn sections of the stamped tissue to the pumpkin surface.

Overlapping the sections made it easy to make a cool pattern that looked amazing even close up. As I stuck the tissue to the pumpkin I brushed more Fast Finish over the top to seal and finish it. The Fast Finish dried as fast as I could move around the pumpkin…it was fantastically easy to work with.

I loved the cool look of places where the wrinkles in the tissue distorted the image and where the lines between the stamped images added variety and depth.

My finished pumpkin needed something. Some of our Black Glass Glitter! I  used Beacon Adhesives Dazzle Tac to apply this. It’s really for repairing jewelry, but it has a really fine tip that let me be very precise about glitter placement. I started by covering the stem and applying the glitter by just pouring it on. Beacon makes a lot of adhesives that would have worked for this step.

But then I used the fine tip to draw on vines and leaves and also cover them with the Black Glass Glitter.

My finished pumpkin looked amazing on my shelf of Halloween treasures in my office, but it will also move beautifully into Fall decore. Love how easy and quick Fast Finish made this project. I completed the whole thing in less than an hour. Dry to the touch, not sticky in less than an hour. I let the glitter dry longer for good adhesion.

Now check out the inspiration from our amazing Design Team members for today. You’ll see lots more uses for Fast Finish. Come back and visit tomorrow, too, and all week as we celebrate this great product and all the ways it coordinates with Stampendous stamps! We’ll draw random comments from random blogs to win your own Fast Finish and stamps, so you can try this great product.

Saturday Coordination with Core’dinations!

Jumbo Cardinals with Core’dinations by Lisa Hindsley

Here’s Lisa’s Supply List:

CRS5038 Jumbo Cardinals, Core’dinations TH card stock, Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel, VersaMark Watermark Ink, StazOn Timber Brown Ink, Colored Pencils and Sand Paper.

Lisa started by sanding the card stock for a rustic look and stamped the image with Timber Brown Ink. The key was to use the color of the card stock to match each bird, so she used the red paper for the male cardinal and the Coconut Cream for the female. She stamped two images (one in each color), then tore the paper and pieced it together to show off the rustic look of the torn edges. Of course it wouldn’t be Stampendous if we didn’t Fran•táge a little bit, so she also added a bit of the Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel as a dusting of snow for these lovely winter birds. She also used our Scrolled Seasons stamp to finish off the inside, and had a lot of fun tearing paper and creating a flurry of snow with a small round brush (no adhesive was used to make the swirl), and heating the whole thing from underneath.

Core’dinations – A Week of Inspiration

Core’dinations papers are so beautiful and so versatile. We first learned about them at CHA many years ago, and since then everyone has leapt on the bandwagon for this beautiful product. We’re finally getting to join together with this great company and showcase some of our terrific images using their wonderful paper. So sit back and enjoy, there’s lots of inspiration from our team and theirs this week.

We’re going to start off with a lovely scrapbook page made by our Scrapbooking Team member Stephanie Lee.  Arty Carty, as you may know her, has created a stunning layout celebrating an important anniversary using some Black Core’dinations cardstock  and the border from the Cling Jumbo Amaryllis stamp from Stampendous. She’ll have details on this great layout on her blog later in the week, so keep watching!

Our very own Cyndi Bundy has a terrific card as well using Core’dinations Kraft Core and Black Magic cardstocks. Cyndi has used our Punkin Kitty image to make a terrific Halloween card.

Make insightful, delightful comments (the kind that show you looked at the project) on the blogs below, and you may find yourself winning some fantastic Stampendous images and some Core’dinations of your own to play with. We’ll choose random comments from random blogs each day this week. Then join us on Saturday when everything comes together in all new projects on a big huge hop!  (Don’t worry…our Saturday Challenge hasn’t gone anywhere. And here on the home front we’re sharing with you just how a gorgeous piece of wide, silk ribbon can spice up an easy gift idea! Painting this inexpensive wooden “basket” from Michaels Stores with acrylic paint then embossing on it with our Cling Jumbo Pinecone Boughs, Aged Green Embossing Enamel and Carnelian PEARLustre Embossing Powder was simple. Adding the bright red ribbon just finished it off and made it so completely festive! A fast easy way to a gift container that will be used over and over for gift giving or to hold pencils, brushes, silk plants or any number of things. Wow!
