Asia King – Stamping on Tiles

BlogStar Asia King is back today with a fantastic project making stamped coasters out of tiles! Enjoy!

Hello Stampendous friends – are you ready for some new inspiration from Asia King? :)

I’ve recently had a day of a complete ‘creative block’ so I asked my crafty friends where I can find my mojo again. One of them suggested she always finds hers in a cup of tea :) . And so right she was!

Today I would like to challenge you to use these gorgeous Stampendous stamps and powders to create unique tea cup coasters.

You will need:

US crafters:
Vintage Piano Perfectly Clear Stamps, I Love Paris Cling Stamp

Aged Gold Embossing Enamel, Shabby Blue Embossing Enamel, White Embossing Powder, Winter Wonderland Embossing Powder

UK crafters:

Vintage Piano Perfectly Clear Stamps, I Love Paris Cling Stamp

Aged Gold Embossing Enamel, Shabby Blue Embossing Enamel, White Embossing Powder, Winter Wonderland Embossing Powder

Other supplies:

Clear embossing ink, Decopatch glue, matt emulsion paint, decorative napkins, Inktense pencils/alcohol ink based marker pens, smooth ceramic tiles.

1.Split your chosen napkin into single layers. Cover the tile with a thin layer of Decopatch glue and layer the napkin over it with your chosen fragment. Tap it gently to adhere to the tile. When the glue to almost set, smooth out any wrinkles with your hand. Covering the tile with some scrap paper first will prevent accidental tears of the tissue. Let it dry completely.

2. Next, dry brush the covered tile with a thin layer of a matt emulsion paint. This will soften the background image and give the tile a fabric like texture. Allow to dry.

3. Using a water resistant ink (like Archival or StazOn) stamp the piano image in the bottom corner. Embellish the remaining corners with stamped swirls and music notes. Colour the lady’s dress with Inktense pencils or marker pens.

4. Swipe a clear embossing ink pad along the edge of the tile and sprinkle lightly the blue embossing powder. Tap off the excess and heat set with a heat tool. Repeat for all edges. Follow the same process with a custom mixture of a white and Winter Wonderland embossing powders.

5. Swipe the embossing ink along the side edges and sprinkle with Aged Gold embossing enamel, allowing a small irregular overlap on the top of the tile. Heat set with the heat tool.

6. Cover the tile with a layer of Decopatch glue (or any other glazing medium) to protect your design.

I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial and I look forward to receiving my tea party invites!

Big hugs
